Cavalier Freighter

Hailed as the transport of tomorrow, the cavalier freighter is a brand new state of the art class of super freighter that is almost as big as a small starbase. Easily four times the size of the average heavy freighter, the cavalier boasts multiple cargo holds, each big enough to accommodate half a dozen light freighters lined up side by side. Thus making it possible to transport huge loads in one trip without the need for a entire caravan of heavy freighters.   In addition to cargo, the cavalier also carries passengers with a maximum capacity larger than the population of some cities. These passengers travel in style enjoying such amenities as gourmet meals, gaming and entertainment, as well as a spacious viewing deck where one can simply sit back and watch the stars go by.   The operation of these super freighters relies on the use of the new technology of consonant matrices which enables multiple scepter tone key crystals to smoothly blend their energies to work together in tandem. Because of this, a team of six highly skilled pilots is required to fly the cavalier and they must be specially trained to work seamlessly as one.   At present, there are only three prototypes of the cavalier in operation and they can only dock at the major hubs since most ports are just not big enough for these behemoths. Five were manufactured, but two were lost during the initial test runs.   One crashed into a portal whose aperture did not open wide enough to allow the huge freighter to pass through and was irreparably damaged. This was attributed to pilot error, the theory being that the freighter's pilots did not match the frequency of their scepter tone key crystals properly when attempting to enter the portal. However, a full investigation was not possible since all six pilots, and most of the crew, perished.   Another cavalier freighter entered the synaptical routes and never exited. It was assumed that the freighter somehow became lost and the entire crew was presumed dead since no one can live within the synaptical routes for very long.
