Shal'aa

A town praised for it's rich architecture and cleanliness visited by architecture lovers and people who enjoyed water-related activities. Now, its streets are filled with rubble, and its buildings in constant need of reconstruction or some kind of fixing.

The man-made beauty

In Ashtara, Shal'aa was a gorgeous city, filled with detail and decorations where everything felt like it was there for a reason. It had a famous architecture and art school and most of the architecture came from a cooperation from both schools. Everything had a neat place, with a gorgeous outside and even prettier inside.

But the city was also famous for its water-related activities, both for tourists, mages wishing to train and scientists studying water-related magic. Fishing, water sports, scientific fish farms, etc.

Its beautiful buildings suffered greatly the move from Ashtara to Iphars, many of them being half destroyed or partially damaged and in need of fixing. And all preparations started to be made as soon as it reached Iphars. But, half way through them, the corruption from the lake next to the city —which had became a portal— started taking hold of the city.

And thus the never-ending cycle of reconstruction across the city started. Each time a building was finally rebuild, one or two other building needed new repairs for a reason or another, mostly always because of the portal's corruption. Some people consider them crazy to keep rebuilding things if they knew they'd have to fix it again a month later, but the buildings have been the city's pride and they are in denial of losing that pride.

Other than building, the town has been focused on creating the RPN technology to reduce the impact of the chaotic magic across the island, using crystals found near the city and setting a protective magical "layer" around the lake. It has, so far, proven effective although it has some side effects.
