Tinvenian School of Magic

History

The Tinveinian School of Magic was found as an alternative to the School of Artificery, a school that, due to the decreasing population of artisans within Tinvein, most of whom were emmigrating to other, more promising cities, was not a reliable nor powerful way to stop the incoming halfling raids coming from the east. This was made especially apparent after the Battle of The Granite Bridge, where the artificers failed to intercept the raiders on their way, and as a result, reinforcements from The Golden Valley had to be called for their rescue. Following the battle, the Elder decided to officially switch from artificery to magic, and as such, in 105BG, the Tinvenian School of Magic was founded.

The Present

Nowadays, it stands as the only School of Magic within the [MOUTAINRANGE], attracting many dwarven wizards that otherwise would not have found a place that they could call home. The school was the birthplace of many of the greatest dwarven wizards, including the current Elder of Hul-Vazhatun, Bluereign Mountainmight.

The Wings

The school is divided into many different wings, which are all pretty unique from most of what other schools around the world have to offer due to the unique dwarven position There are many different wings, but there are 3 in particular that are the most widespread and most studied within the school.
Wing of Metal Manipulation
The wing that is most present within the mages of Tinvein due to it's wast defensive abilities. From the ability to temporarily strenghten any metal, and in turn strenghten the armor of all fellow soldiers, to the ability of raising small metal warriors powered by the individual's magic power, the opportunities are endless as long as metal is involved.
Wing of Crimson
The wing that is mostly present within the mages of Hul-Vazhatun due to it's somewhat limited but still reliable ability to shape the Earth. That mainly through spells utilizing explosions, which are used to shape the place where The Landship is too large to fit in. Other than that, many Crimson Wing graduates decide to find carriers in different parts of the world, as their magic has great potential on the battlefield and the dwarven way of fighting seldom utilizes raw magic, prioritizing artificery.
Wing of Channeling
The wing that is mostly present within the mages of The Golden Valley. Although it does not have many practical uses on it's own, it's incredibely powerful when combined with Artificers. The whole wing was created on request of the old King, who needed more magical power for his artificers, and is still used nowadays within the Valley to power larger and larger contraptions. However, mages of this wing aren't completely useless on their own. They can use their wast magic power in many different ways as well, one such way being concentrating a lot of magic force into one point and throwing it, essentially creating a magical spear capable of piercing nearly through every non-magical armor, something that other mages do not have enough power for.
Unlike Schools of Artificery, the School of Magic focuses doesn't attempt to combine conventional technology with magic, instead, they rather focus on the individuals and their abilities to wield magic in it's conventional way

Despite the school being changed into one of Magic, there are still Artificier sub-wings to keep on the legacy of the old school, as well as to keep the innovation that Dwarves are known for on ever-evolving.

The current wings focus mainly on a more supportive role, rather than an offensive one, with most of the taught spells serving to either better the troops in combat, or help with construction, artificery, and such. An exception to this would be the Crimson wing, which is utilised both as support and as offensive.
