The Pure Soul

(The contents of this page are NOT common knowledge)
"Can't we please see eye to eye just this once? Our children are in danger, it should be in our interest that we see to their safety."
— The Pure Soul, First Meeting of the Mortal Gods

Preamble

The Pure One is the deity seeing over the dominions of Peace, Healing, and the Home, who focuses on the tranquility of life and enjoys serenity in all of it’s forms. The Pure One rarely gets involved in the affairs of mortals, instead acting through certain followers who have proven their devotion to the deity known as Clerics. Seeing over the sphere of Peace the Pure One favors peacemakers in all of their forms, whether they be healers, diplomats, or just kind people; in fact, she herself is a pacifist, vowing to never harm or kill another living being. She sees the ability to resolve conflict before it gets violent as a true test of character. Knowing this it is no surprise that her followers are often called on in times of strife to help calm the tides. Though governing over the realm of Peace this does not mean that she is all loving; however, in fact, she has a strong distaste for those who bring chaos and disorder into the world. Even those who are not evil are not immune to this, she despises The Allfather as he has dominion over the Hunt and War though he has no ill intent for society as a whole. However, the opposite is also true, with those who promote Order in the world gaining her deepest respect and admiration. For instance, The Divine Son, who sees over the domain of Order and Light is deeply loved by the Pure One.

Sphere Of Influence

Influence

Those who are favored by The Pure One are those who are skilled in diplomacy, healing, and homemakers. She cherishes harmony and kindness and those who strive to bring that into the world will always catch her attention. She commands her followers to do their best to always care for those around them. In times of war they can often be found acting as healers, caring for those hurt in battle, or acting as diplomats between the warring parties. Yet, her followers will never be found in combat as harming or killing another person in any way is deeply frowned upon unless in the most dire of circumstances. Like The Pure One, many of her followers take a vow of peace, promising to never partake in combat again as long as they can help it. In times of peace however they can often be found doing the same, preventing conflict from happening before it even starts.

Dominion

The Pure One is not opposed to lending a hand to those who seek to serve her, preferring to instead act through those she has gifted instead of interfering in the matters directly. While she does want her followers to make their own way and not rely on her, the end goal will always be peace and so she graciously lends a helping hand when it is needed. However, failure is not met with punishment or rage as long as there was an attempt, instead she rewards those who simply try their best to ensure the prosperity of the world and its inhabitants. Those who show particular devotion are bestowed with the above mentioned gifts, using them to aid them in their search of peace.

Artifacts

Gorney's Hillock - A massive town carved into the face of a group of hills. This town is the largest gathering of Gorney in the world, and is something of a site for pilgrimage for those Gorney who live in the human lands in the old world, who seek to visit at least once in their life. Gorney himself lives there, and loves to cook massive meals every night, feeding all those who stop at his table. It's said that he somehow makes time to speak to all those who attend these feasts, joining every little group and making friends with all those he meets, remembering them forever onward if they meet again.   Freamh’s Wooden Spoon - This is a simple looking wooden spoon carried by many spring elven mothers throughout history. It is said that mixing something with this spoon will cause almost any dish to be splendid, and that waving it in the air around disobedient children will cause them to get in line quickly. Freamh occasionally walks Gaia to this day, helping lost children find their way home, and imbuing mundane objects with her influence to help her people. Most of Freamh's artifacts are externally plain-looking, and primarily focus around home goods or carved wooden or stone talismans.   The Tome of Priestess Aviala - Priestess Aviala’s life-long work wrapped into a beautifully bound tome. It is said that the secrets of the Clerical Order can be found preserved in this book, living on to pass down the practices of the Clerical Order. Though it’s location is still unknown, many believe that when the time is right the goddess will gift this tome to a chosen person, someone tasked with bringing back the Order when it will be needed the most.

Mortal Facets

Priestess-Aviala

The Pure One’s first servant on Gaia. A human woman who would go on to found the Cleric Order and cement its name in history. She was instrumental in creating what it means to be a cleric and worship the pure one as the goddess worked through her.

Gorney

The Pure One’s first true facet, taking the form of the Hill Dwed as she came down to Gaia and ushered the weefolk into existence. Her work in this life led to her being known in the dwarven creation story alongside the creators of the deep and cave dwed. They know her as the middle brother of the three; the god of feasts, family, and friends. Gorney is the most peaceful of all gods, requiring no more from his followers than that they have a good life, make merry with their friends, and have, and love their family. He is also among the least worshiped gods by his own people, as he does not demand any such worship from them.

Symbols: Cauldrons, Lanterns
Followers: Gorney, Bards, Chefs
Other Names: The Jolly Tosser, Todo Goodhome

Influence

Despite that only about half of his species worship him, Gorney is a fairly powerful deity. He has influence over love, good food and good family.

Powers

Most of Gorney's powers rely on making a good home, and protecting that family. He is also generally the god of cooks, alchemists and distillers, who pray to him for good brews and good foods.

Freamh

The goddess’ second facet, when she appeared once again to usher in a new era of peace as she took the form of a young spring elf. Through her works in this form she went on to be known by the Ue Il’ha as the goddess of natural growth, fertility, and motherhood. Worship of her can still be found in spring elven communities to this day.

Domain(s): Motherhood / Fertility / Growth
Symbols: Sun / Wheat / Sunflowers
Followers: Parents, Chefs, Teachers, Homemakers
Other Names: The Sun Mother / The Shining Lady

Influence

Freamh holds influences over fertility, protection (especially of the young or weak), and matters of the home. She brings luck to those starting a new journey or beginning their life, and wisdom to those who aid them. Chefs and homemakers pray to her for the good of their meals, and teachers for the good of their students. Those who seek to harm children or disrupt a peaceful home will incur in her wrath, and terrible famine and danger are sure to follow them.

Powers

Freamh has the power to bring life and bountiful harvests, and to restore life naturally, without bringing harm to the soul. Though she is naturally one of the kindest gods, she is capable of bringing incredible rage and punishment down on those who anger her by harming children.

The Nursed Edict

It was at the first dawn of the Gaian light upon Gaia that the Pure One sought to grant those of similar minds with her blessings, spreading her wings and protection upon the countless souls occupying the mortal realm. Some mortals, such as the Priestess Aviala, looked upon this divine being in reverence and earned her blessings. In this they were tasked with spreading faith in the form of positive action across the continent.   Certain followers of the goddess can be blessed with the ability to heal and protect others. Though these Clerics, as they came to be known, were not fighters or warriors - instead bound by their divine covenants to never kill or harm others. These Clerics were sought by many for their vast array of healing techniques.

History

Priestess Aviala

Priestess Aviala was a human woman who lived during the early days of Gaia and became the first mortal to be granted Clerical powers by The Pure One as a gift for her devotion. In fact, it was this same Priestess who went on to establish the first Clerical Order of the Pure One as she traveled around the land and quickly gained a following dedicated to serving the goddess in any way they could. The Order thrived during this time, led by Priestess Aviala, as they became known around the land for their healing powers and work as diplomats between groups. For years the Order lived on, helping to enact the Pure Ones will as they worked closely with the Paladins of the Divine Son. Throughout all of this Aviala was there, her devotion to the goddess prolonging her life as she toiled endlessly to transcribe their work and practices into one tome that would hopefully live on after them, for as sure as everyone was of the Orders future she knew that one day tragedy would strike.   Indeed this tragedy did strike eventually, as the Death Knights of the Ice-Dragon Covurdurth struck out suddenly against the Clerics all around the world. In a single blow the Order was wiped from the map, with those who remained thrown into disarray and the Order soon fell apart, thought to be lost from time. Aviala herself was struck down in this massacre; however, in these last moments as the Deathknights were kicking in the door into the Monastery that Aviala had stationed herself at, she was able to hide her tome away. It’s fate of her life-long work is still unknown, it’s location long lost to history.

Gorney

Appearing first as Gorney, a jovial hill-dwed with the penchant for helping those around him and cooking fantastic meals. He is believed to be one of the three brothers in the Drachev creation story, each one bringing about their respective sub-races who are said to display their various qualities. He has a simple history, reflective of the descendants' love for the simple things in life, it is said that he almost immediately settled down and cut his hillock out of the hills which he favored so. There have been incursions, but he has defended this hillock with great magical strength, and unfailingly nonlethal methods.   The Pure One seems to enjoy this form, and it is said that anyone who travels to Gorney's Hillock can meet and converse with Gorney, and it is said that there's no problem that the short, happy god can't help unwind. Beyond this, there are several stories of Gorney showing up in the life of a Gorney who has truly abandoned all hope, and helping them. However, he is not often worshiped in Gorney communities. Instead they believe that he desires them to strive for happiness in their lives, helping those around him and supporting their community in any way they can. Because of this, many view him more as a friend and father figure rather than a figure to be worshipped.   To Their Followers:
Gorney has a rather simple history. After Vykovat created him, and he created his people, he almost immediately settled down and cut his hillock out of the hills which he favored so. There have been incursions, but he has defended this hillock with great magical strength, and unfailingly nonlethal methods. Anyone who travels to Gorney's Hillock can meet and converse with Gorney, and it is said that there's no problem that the short, happy god can't help unwind. Freamh

The Pure One once again made an appearance to help usher in a new era of peace and fertility as she took the form of Freamh, who became known as the elven goddess of natural growth, fertility, and motherhood. In Elven Culture it is believed that the maker watched upon the creation of the first elves by the hands of his brothers and sisters. Pawns created for the sake of their own interests. Creatures filled with will to protect only their own domains. A whiff of inspiration filled the old god as he pulled the essence of both Gaia and the spring court together, mixing them with expertise and determination. Out of this brew, three first elves were created, equal and balanced between themselves. Two sisters to run the natural cycle, a brother to keep it balanced. Freamh was created to bring warmth and fertility into the Gaian chaos. The young goddess spent her first breath to infuse the chaotic lands of Gaia with life. Her blessing spread quickly to every infertile soil, creating exotic and verdant paradises. Considered the mother figure of the Ue Il’ha, she watches over them like a protective mother, guiding their steps and blessing their land with bountiful crops.   However, opposed to Gorney the Ue Il’ha can oftentimes still be found openly worshiping Freamh, believing her to offer protection and love to her ‘children’ as they see themselves. Once again the Pure One took on a parental role, fulfilling the other side of the coin and becoming a mother to the Spring Elves.   To Their Followers:
