Mevvet Divines
(The contents of this page are NOT common knowledge)
“I kneel to you not for myself, nor in respect of you or your divinity. I kneel to you not to dishonor my kin, but to make it so that their folly does not result in the death of more innocents. I only pray that they will not forget my sacrifice for them.”
The Ferryman
(While the name and basic characteristics of the Ferryman are common knowledge, the details are only known to those who have died or those who have read about the Ferryman)Artwork by Unknown
Domain(s): The Alkestis
Symbols: The Alkestis, Hooded Robes, a Scale.
Followers: He has a small following of some of the more morbid Gravicans
Other Names: Death, The Judge
Influence
The Ferryman is the protector of, and is all-powerful on the Alkestis, although he rarely does anything but slowly guide it through the cosmos. All else is inconsequential to the Ferryman.Powers
The most obvious of the Ferryman’s powers are the ability to teleport those spirits that annoy or inhibit his work onto the opposite side of his ship, and his ability to keep the Alkestis running smoothly. It is safe to assume, however, that if stoways were found aboard his ship by him, they would not receive such a light scolding.Artifacts
I suppose you could dub the Alkestis as an artifact of the Ferryman, although, besides that, he has none.History
The Ferryman is a hooded, crouched, silent, shrouded figure, piloting the tiller of the Alkestis (also called the Ferry of the Dead) and guiding it through the murky blackness. He does not speak, or acknowledge the presence of those around him, instead quietly fulfilling the eternal task to which he has been assigned. Any who somehow manage to approach him despite the reality-bending nature of his ship and peer beneath his dark hood would find nothing underneath it, the robes merely appearing to be empty. The Ferryman may also not be harmed in any way by any passenger aboard his ship, any attempts only resulting in the offender being teleported to the opposite end of the ship. The only thing that might make the Ferryman abandon his post would be a cataclysmic, universe-ending event. The Ferryman always was, and always will be, till the end times come. From the very second that life itself was created, so too has he existed, as a way to ferry the dead towards their destined afterlives. Since then, he has carried out his duty silently, diligently, and without complaint, and will continue to do so until the very universe itself has been destroyed. There isn’t really much more to him than that.Nepuntaku
Nepuntaku is a dead Sphinx God, who was killed by being pushed into the Soul Well by the Forgotten Lord and the harpy Nikothoe. In his life, he was a pillar of justice and fairness, an honorable, diligent, and selfless caretaker of Mevvet. He took the guise of a massive Sphinx when he still lived.Artwork by Unknown
Domain(s): Formerly Mevvet, now nothing
Symbols: An Ankh, Scales, Sphinxes.
Followers: Those few Sphinxes that remain.
Other Names: The Dead God
Influence
Nepuntaku used to be the foremost caretaker of Mevvet, and ruled over it in its entirety. Now, being dead, he rules over nothing.Powers
In life, Nepuntaku had almost complete control over Mevvet, and any who dared enter the plane. Had the celestials, for whatever strange reason, attempted an assault on Mevvet, he likely would’ve been able to fend them off with relative ease, so great was his power. Being dead, however, has stripped him of this, and now he is powerless and non-existant.Artifacts
Most artifacts of Nepuntaku’s were destroyed upon the Forgotten Lord’s ascent to power, but some, like Nepuntaku’s followers, still persist. They are scattered far and wide across the plane, in secret places guarded by Sphinxes. Their properties are unknown, but likely pertain to something relating to justice, truth, or death.History
Nepuntaku’s tale is an old one, and filled with tragedy. He was created alongside Mevvet, to serve as the plane’s caretaker and defender. To serve him, and ease his burdens, the harpies and sphinxes were made, each with their own quirks and flaws. The sphinxes were honorable and just, as good caretakers should be, but lacked the cunning to uncover plots, schemes, and other sorts of trickery. For this, the maker of Mevvet created the harpies, who were weaker than the Sphinxes, should they attempt to revolt, but skilled in the arts of schemes and deceit, should anyone attempt to threaten Mevvet in that caliber. For this, the harpies were always looked down upon by the Sphinxes, who were a bit pompous, breeding resentment between the two races. This minor dislike, however, was basically inconsequential for the vast majority of the plane’s history, each fulfilling their duties in defending the plane. Harpies swooped through the skies of other worlds, hunting and returning runaway spirits and men, while Sphinxes remained in Mevvet, defending it and its treasures from more powerful threats. This balance, however, projected to last till the end of time, was shattered by the arrival of the Forgotten Lord. Nobody quite knows who, or what, he is, or even if “he” is a he. What is known, however, is that they, through one way or another, managed to make their way to Mevvet undiscovered, and arrange a private audience with the harpy Nikothoe. Nikothoe was a normal, mortal harpy, but one that had considerable influence amongst her people. The Forgotten Lord promised Nikothoe godhood if she helped them dispose of Nepuntaku and install themself as the new master of Mevvet, and she agreed. Legions of harpies were enlisted towards Nikothoe’s new cause, and, when the time came, they fell on Nepuntaku suddenly and without warning. Nepuntaku, despite being taken by surprise, slaughtered thousands of them, but the swarms of Harpies, through sheer strength of numbers, managed to lift and carry the Sphinx god to the Well of Souls, into which he was thrown, dissolving his essence completely. Now, the name Nepuntaku is seldom heard or spoken, only the most devout of scholars and the Sphinxes that once served him even knowing his name. In truth, soon Nepuntaku, and his legacy, will become like the being that replaced him, forgotten.Nikothoe
Nikothoe “The Betrayer” is the queen of the Harpies, and arguably the second in command of Mevvet. She takes the guise of a Harpy, but one with a beautiful, not ugly face. Incredibly vain, even more so than her subjects (which is truly saying something), she spends most of her existence staring at her reflection longingly in a reflecting pool, and can be swayed by flattery. Her vanity, while it does distract her cunning instincts, does not eclipse them, and she, if the attempted persuader is not subtle enough, can pick up on plots and schemes against herself fairly easily.Artwork by Unknown

Influence
Nikothoe is the god-queen of the Harpies, and has almost complete control over them. She, additionally, has a command and influence over Mevvet only lesser to that of the Forgotten Lord’s.Powers
While Nikothoe normally takes the guise of a regular-sized greater harpy, her true form is far more massive in size and strength, and few have ever lived after seeing it. A god created by harnessing the energies of the soul well, she is one of the more powerful beings in the universe, and the small fraction of its output allotted to her causes that power to grow with every passing day.Artifacts
A couple of looking glasses that allow direct communication with her, but nothing more has been known to be created.History
Nikothoe’s origin is among the most humble of the god-like beings across creation. Her powers were not granted, nor were they created alongside her. They were stolen from her sovereign. Nikothoe was not among the original batch of harpies, made by the Creator Dragon himself. She was created far later, mere hundreds of ages prior to the fall of Nepuntaku. The result of an ordinary birth from the soul-well, Nikothoe was about as average a harpy as one could be. She wasn’t particularly large, or fast, or strong, or cunning. In fact, she was a bit below average at most of these things, if not more. She did have one thing going for her, however: she knew the power of a well-placed compliment. This was a rare trait, if not a unique one amongst harpies. Incredibly vain beings, each and every harpy believes themselves to be the most beautiful, intelligent, strong, fast, wise, and humble creature in the universe. In this regard, Nikothoe was no different, but she recognized that lying about other harpies’ superiority would make them like her more. In harpy society, prior to Nikothoe, recognizing another's achievement in any regard, without then advancing a personal achievement that was far greater, had never before happened. This, combined with the harpies’ vainness, made it so that any recognition of an individual harpy’s superiority would, in their mind, make the giver of the compliment the second greatest being in the universe. The title was bestowed to the complimenter purely because nobody else in the harpy’s entire life had been “smart” enough to realize just how supposedly great they were. As a result of this contradiction, Nikothoe, despite being wholly unremarkable, quickly became the most widely beloved being in all of Mevvet. Harpies, both lesser and greater, were willing to bend over backwards for her just to hear one self-affirming word of praise. It was then that The Forgotten Lord first came to her. More a breeze than a ghost, its whispers of godhood had little effect on the harpy. She was very-much content with the status quo and found his plans laughable. Until, that is, he brought her to the edge of the soul well and revealed his true identity. That changed things. It started off as one whispered joke, told to a close friend while off in a distant world. Then another followed. Then another. Before long, it wasn’t a joke, but a plan. The lie of a demonic invasion lured the sphinx-king from his sanctum to the soul well, and, despite the harpies taking many losses, eventually Nepuntaku was completely and totally disintegrated by one of the few things in the universe that can truly kill a god. Their pact fulfilled, The Forgotten Lord, one of the few beings who could handle energies so immense, allotted Nikothoe her half, using the other to shape Mevvet to his own wishes. It was at this point that Nikothoe and her harpies had planned to throw the Forgotten Lord into the Soul Well as well. He had done all that they had needed, which was make Nikothoe a god. She could handle ruling Mevvet from there, and felt no great compulsion to bend the knee to the pitiful fragment of a once-great being. Mevvet, at long last, after epochs of servitude, belonged to the harpies. But as she prepared to give the signal for her comrades to strike, her new master gestured to the reflecting pool at her feet. In that shimmering water, looking back at her, Nikothoe saw the most mind-breakingly beautiful creature she had ever seen; herself. Harpies are the most egotistical creatures in creation in spite of having a visage that makes most things run in terror. The Forgotten Lord had made Nikothoe truly beautiful. In the mirrored halls of her new palace, the harpy-queen lost all interest in schemes and betrayals, and instead gazed admiringly at her reflection. There, countless epochs later, she still remains, spellbound by her own narcissism. The Last Titan
The Last Titan is the sole survivor of the Titan’s rebellion against the creator dragon, and, as punishment for his rebellious deeds, is imprisoned forevermore inside the Soul Well of Mevvet, his true name lost to the ages.Artwork by Unknown
Domain(s): The Soul Well
Symbols: Lost to the ages

Other Names: Unknown
Influence
Due to his essence being imprisoned inside the Soul Well and forced to make it run, the Last Titan supposedly has no influence anywhere.Powers
When he was still free, the Last Titan may have been the least powerful of his kind, but he was still a Titan. His power is now a mere fraction of what it once was, it being forevermore forced to churn the Soul Well. Should he somehow manage to free himself, however, he would really only be eclipsed by the strongest of the other gods, or a true dragon. The details of the Last Titan’s powers, and what he ruled over during his time on Gaia have been lost to time, and are largely irrelevant, as he likely will never emerge from the Soul Well. Even if he does, the many epochs he has spent within the vortex have changed him to the point where his previous self would find him unrecognizable.Artifacts
Most, if not all of the Artifacts that had once belonged to the Last Titan have either been destroyed or lost to time itself. A scant few still remain on Gaia, buried beneath mountains and oceans, or sealed away in long-forgotten crypts.History
Before Armusians and Gravicans, before the Carribardssailed the seas, before even Anomalous and Sequestus, in a time when the Talidurians still walked on the surface of Gaia, a race of gods known as the Titans roamed the continent. But alas, the Titans had larger aspirations than ruling over the fickle mortals that inhabited their plane of existence. Being far more powerful than the gods that inhabit Gaia now, and far more free-spirited, they launched a rebellion against their creator, the creator, which was subsequently brutally and savagely crushed. The details of this rebellion are scant, and debated by the scant amounts of scholars, archeologists, and truth-wielders who know of its existence. Some argue that it was an attempt by the Titans to usurp the Creator Dragon, and thus take his place as the supreme master of the universe. Others claim that the Titans, had they succeeded, would’ve harnessed the Creator Dragon’s power to make a new universe, one more fitted to their own desires and aspirations than the one the Creator Dragon had made. Those with more romantic inclinations claim that the Titans rebelled for their creations, to protect the Talidurians, Hierophants, and first Rehksfrom the harsh world their master had made. This line of thought is dismissed in most discussions on the matter, however. Regardless of the why, the vague details of the war are preserved, to those who know where to look, on various talidurian and heimphorant ruins and relics. The titans moved swiftly, and, by the end of the first age of the war, had seized control of the entire plane, brutally suppressing all those in their path. What scant allies the Creator Dragon had on the continent were crushed, and, for a time, it seemed as if the Titan’s rebellion might succeed. Then the Creator Dragon unleashed the Divine Daemons. Roaring hordes of flaming beasts the size of mountains were unleashed upon the mortal plane, with absolutely nothing stopping them from realising their full potential. The remainder of the war was a short, brutal affair. The demons tore through the very fabric of Gaia, laying waste to everything in their path, be it Titan, mountain, or man, their corruption destroying everything that they did not. And, while the Titans did score some scant victories, ending various greater demons whose names have been lost to history, these were overwhelmed by the sheer brutality and destruction caused by the demonic hordes. They had not come to conquer the plane, but to destroy it, a far simpler task. As the war entered its final stages, eventually, only the Last Titan remained, his stand to take place on the last continent of Gaia that was not rock, by the last sea that was not steam. But, unlike his kin, the Last Titan did not choose to make a final, fatal stand for that which he believed in. He bowed his head, called out to the Creator Dragon itself, and let himself be bound in irons and put to work forevermore in the Soul Well of Mevvet, with no hope of escape. The Forgotten Lord
“They came to her a ghost, a mere sliver of a soul. She laughed off their promises, their plans, their honeyed words, until they told her their name. Then she listened.”The now undisputed lord of Mevvet, the Forgotten Lord has reshaped the plane in their image and is now accumulating power at a frightening rate. A figure shrouded in mystery, nobody knows who they are, where they came from, or what they plan to do.

The Forgotten Lord and their allies are in almost complete control of Mevvet.Powers
This, like many things about the Forgotten Lord, is unknown. But, given the fact that they have been feeding off of the most powerful concentration of magical energy in the universe for epochs, there are likely few beings that can match them in power.Artifacts
Almost everything in Mevvet apart from the Soul Well is a creation of the Forgotten Lord, and they give the members of their vast legion many powerful trinkets, which come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. But perhaps their most famous creation are the Mallakhim’s masks.History
