Jarmine- Creator of the trow goblin

For many people thre Trow Goblin are widely considered to be outsiders to Gand, after having migrated in large numbers only in recent years. The Trow introduction to society hasn’t been without teething as many struggle to find where they fit in with Kith society and to navigate the polictical and social landscape. Trow- as a people are exceptionally flexible and adaptable to their new circumstances but at the same time are staunchly protective of the comforts of their home. Many new arrivals have taken care to cook authentic food with as close as ingredients as they can find, as well as build traditional lutes and whistles, and tell the stories of their creation as a race.   The belief in Jarmine is of cultural importance to the Trow and has less to do with the worship or practicing of religion and leans more towards creating and maintaining communities and cultivating strong values and morals by threading the stories of Jarmine as fable and allegory. The Kitham religious sect the Brotherhood of Tarn is extremely pedantic about the worship of other deities outside of Tarn, the Cosmic Weaver and are not shy about throwing their force around to dominate other kith. The brotherhood likely would be targeting Trow for their worship of Jasmine if their Jusidiction allowed for such, But at present by decree of the king they can only police the worship of other Kitham, a move designed to protect the peace between other races.

Practice of worship

The stories of Jarmine are a long-winding series of fables, a mythology that has been added to over generations of storytelling. There are any number of short stories told but only a few are popular and widespread enough have been transcribed into written fashion in Trow text. Primarily it remains a pervasive oral tradition to be shared amongst families and communities.

Jarmine the myth

Jarmine is said to have been a real figure who existed many ceruries ago- perhaps predating the settlement of Gand and the Early Era (or EE) itself. On record, there are several stories of him conversing with real historic figures, and even some artifacts which are possessions he is said to have owned at some point. Jarmine was a goblin who was twice as tall as any other goblin and had possession of the supernatural ability to grow to gianormous sizes and to create ire from the inanimate. Jarmine acted as a leader and spiritual figure towards other goblins, whose stories begin with his birth, his discovery of The Rastlands, his creation of goblins, then of society and finally his death.

The Fable of Creation

Jarmine is said to have been born from a fissure in the sea- where no waves would crash, and no life could thrive. The pressure of the currents- angry that they could not make waves to crash- pressed in on the fissure with such force that the earth itself split open revealing obsidian mud. From this mud a young goblin large as an island crawled out from the fissure only to be caught by the angry currents and tossed around. Buffeted against the ocean floor pieces of Jarmine were filed away and became the life in the sea making up all manner of fish. Eventually the ocean tired of him and he was spat our onto the shore only slightly larger than an average goblin. Jarmine would roam what would become the shore only slightly larger than a goblin. Jarmine would roam what would become the Rastlands but he was frightfully and terribly lonely- being so small in such a large place.   Jarmine in his loneliness would close his eyes and wish to become one with the soil and the earth, his wish came true. As he slept he grew to his original size spanning the length of the islands and dreaming of no longer being lonely. He kept for many years until the earth grew around him and pieces of his body began to shift growing into the land and becoming obsidian mud, form this mud the first trow crawled free. With each new Trow born Jamine grew smaller and smaller until he too was their size. When he awoke it was to the curious faces of his children. Jarmine bellowed a deep laugh the likes of which shook the earth with thunder and called lighting from the sky, a manifestation of his joy at discovering life. He would go on to live amongst his people for the rest of his days, having adventures and forging epic tales.

Jamine's Death

Jarmine may have been a god but he was not immortal. He would live several goblin lifespans among his beloved Trow, but he would also age; his eyes would crease from laughter and his hair would grey. When he felt his end draw near Jasmine waited until the quietest hour of night- and whilst everyone slept he would walk into the same ocean that brought him to the islands all those years ago. It's believes that Jarmine arrived at his final resting place from where he came- the fissure in the sea.

Iconography and Symbols

Jarmine is associated with the colour black, with the stone obsidian stone and with dark soil, much like Jarmine was born from and cultivated the Trow from. He is also associated thunder and lightning which represents his laughter and joy upon discovering the act of creation.
