The Throne of Sand
The Throne of Sand is the formal name for both the palace, and the throne that the Emperor of the Azantium Empire sits upon. Named for its formation, the throne was shaped from Eversand and placed in the path of Sarvanāśa, upon which the throne’s form was twisted, leaving it in a perpetual state of flow. It is said that the throne is excessively painful to sit upon for long periods of time, as the shifting sands of its material will, inevitably, shred clothing and flesh alike. The symbolism of this was enjoyed by all, but none of the emperors enjoy it all that much, and most tend to avoid sitting on the throne for as long as possible. When they must, they do so with frequent breaks, and wear very heavy clothing.
Tourism
A popular saying among the commoners about the Throne of Sand is that it’ll tan the hide of the emperor when nobody else can.
