Where a wanderer can oft' find homeThe Adrausii Plains, often called the Wolf Steppe, or the Land of Unbroken Sky, is a large open steppe plain that exists as the cradle of the Adrausii and Litzenii people from ages before. The land of these plains are extremely fertile. often called the "Breadbasket" of the continent, which has made the nation of Adraus such a wanted target by the various empires which surround it.
Geography
The Adrausii Plains stretch across the central lowlands of the Kingdom of Adraus, forming one of the largest, uninterrupted landmasses on the Azoran Subcontinent. They are framed by the Seraskalen Mountains to the northeast, which eventually forms into the highlands and rolling hills of the Grand Duchy of Litzen. To the west, the forested borderlands of the Principality of Draylas. Southwest, the Bay of Wolves grants the Kingdom of Adraus access to the Sea of Drakes. To the south, the combined borders of Serenaux and the Lorausii Confederation stand.
The landscape is gently undulating with long stretches of open prairie, broken only by the isolated stands of ancient trees, winding rivers, and low escarpments which mark ancient shifts in the earth. At the heart of this is the Adan River, a large river that has, historically, both fueled and divided the nation of Adraus east and west, due the wide, flooding nature of the river which passes from the heights of the Sereskalen Mountains, through the plains, and down to the Adan River Estuary, which is a notorious wetland and home to one of the few deep water ports in Adraus.
Climate
The land here is temperate, with moderate rainfall year round. In the Spring, flash floods and greenery explosions are common as wind brings fresh air and snow melt from high in the mountains. Storms and rain reach their highest during this time in the year. In the Summer, the air becomes warm and dry. The northern provinces experience lush blooms and perfect temperatures due to the Seraskalens, while the southern reaches can suffer from droughts and dry spells. In the Fall, dense fog and drizzling rain showers are far more frequent as the weather turns colder. In the Winter, the biting cold and winds cause ice storms and hail, as well as feet worth of snow and frost.
Fauna & Flora
Tall grain-like grass covers much of central plains, with the occasional Adrausii Ironwood trees breaking the unending line of sight. Horned elk and Plainsetter Horses are common animals that roam wildly through the vast grasslands here. As well as various corvids like crows and ravens. The most common sight in these plains is the Direwolf, which has a huge significance on the people, who have since ancient times, used them to hunt the great dragons who have threatened their lives.
