Drow

The Drow, sometimes called Dark Elves, are a subspecies of Elves that commonly live in the Underdark. Because of their subterranean lifestyle they have an aversion to sunlight, with many of them never visiting the surface.   Most Drow that live in the Underdark live in Theocratic and Matriarchal societies, worshipping the deity Lolth, the Spider Queen and the patron God of the Drow. These societies see the female form as closer to the image of Lolth and therefore superior. Because of this male Drow are almost always subservient to a woman and are barred from high society, especially from leadership of religious duty.   Many worshippers of Lolth wish to appease the Goddess through acts of cruelty and devotion, with her most loyal followers becoming transformed into Driders, half spider hybrids, beings made in the image of the Goddess. Dryders magically replace their lower body, below her waist, with the abdomen and legs of a spider. Some Dryder also have eight black, pupil-less eyes and fangs.

Appearance:

  Drow are recognisable by their blackish grey skin, red eyes and white hair.   Complexion: Drow skin tones range from jet black or gray to a light purple.   Hair: Drow hair is almost exclusively white.   Eyes: The Drow tend to have red, black or purple coloured eyes.
