Avariel Elves

The Avariel are a winged subspecies of Elves with a close connection to the sky. They are exceedingly rare, almost brought to extinction during the Dragon-Elf War of the Silver Age, and are almost exclusively found in the Elemental Plane of Air.   Avariel Elves have hollow bones to aid their flight and have been known to practise the dyeing of wing tips before important ceremonies or battle.   Within the Plane of Air the Avariel have their own culture separate from the ones found on Exorsia. Here the Avariel have a timocratic society where they balance philosophical contemplation with the ideals of an honourable warrior, drawing directly from the teaching of their patron Goddess Athena.   Their society is built around a militaristic hierarchy and are well known to show no mercy. They hold the idea that when a warrior draws blood, it was a promise to honour them with victory or a warrior's death. To leave a defeated foe alive was to humiliate them. Because of this they also view surrender to be dishonourable (for both themselves as well as their enemies).

Appearance:

Avariel Elves have large wings that extend from their backs. These wings are usually brown, but can be black or speckled white. Like all other Elf species, Avariel Elves do not have body hair and can not grow facial hair.   Complexion: Avariel skin tones range from a porcelain white to a tanned olive complexion.   Hair: Avariel hair ranges from brown, blonde or black, commonly turning white with age.   Eyes: The Avariel tend to have blue, yellow or brown coloured eyes.
