"Gods it's the King, your eminence may I shake your hand? Tis an honor to meet you." -Alabaster Crane, moments before assassinating King Borland Valmore, 248 CA.
To forget the name of the courier who brings the weekly news by horse-drawn carriage is an understandable enough occurence. But to lose the name of say, Vile, Tiefling warlock who's demon armies brought about the apocalypse in days of old, ushering in the Great Schism, would be a nigh impossible task. Most destined to walk the world of Gaiatia are, unfair as it may be, almost assuredly lost to the ages; Names on tombstones once their time has passed if they're lucky, then little to nothing more once their peers or progeny have come and gone. But some, of our realm, by the end of their days will take actions that echo across eternity. These exceptional few in one regard or the other will become figures of renown, legend, or frightful tale told around the fire; Strangers at least in reputation to no living soul of the land. Though you will all-but certainly hear of the exploits of many of these folk, it would be best to do your own research as well, these tales often accompanied by theatrical embellishments or spiteful personal biases. One could easily imagine it being quite embarrassing to publicly espouse the accolades of a 'famed explorer' for instance, only to later discover he is no more than a prolific charlatan.
