The Amber Tree Quests

In Extraneous, Mania (of The Enduring Ones) becomes hyper-focused on your faces, although she never means your eyes. Often she seems to be studying your necks.
She asked in a monotone voice, "So have you decided where you want to go?"

Mania does not go to the door in her lounge, instead she let your friends leave through. Instead Barnabus and Mania lead you all up through the house and down to a rose garden with a lagoon on the North-East side. Towards the far edge of the lagoon is an island that rises up into a single mound, linked to the garden by a bridge - that looks Fey created, made of flowering tree branches and glistening gems filling the holes in the planks.
Barabus bounds across like a much younger dog. You each feel more revitise (ROLL 1d12 - temporary HP).

Mania asks, "So what is your Party's name? You are all too adorable not to be remembered."

There is a slightly downward sloping path of moonstones into the mound of the island. A stone doorframe has been creating in the island - no door.
Barnabus whines a little, and waits at the doorframe. Walking thru the doorway, Mania's clothes appear to shrink - she increases in size about 25% - brings to glow softly like a aura of gold, silver and bronze.
Inside is a oval cave, four stone pillars support the ceiling - in the centre is an massive door - with only a iron bars door - with brass knocker.
"You certain?" her voice once again, sing-song and chirpy.
She grasps the knocker and taps it in a tuneful rythmn.

There is an eerie half-light monotone glow coming from in.
NOTE: Everything in The Dream Realm has become monotone and eerie.


WEIRD DREAMS REGION = whispered singing of demons in the abyss of an extremely grey darkness.
The sound of hooves and four nightmares appear in a cloud of rolling smoke, pulling a dark carriage. There manes, tails, and hooves wreathed in flame. The creatures have an unearthly black form which move with supernatural speed.
The small carriage contains Night Terrors - like a clown car the Night Terrors seem to just keep coming out.
The creatures charge at you.
Mania calls out, "Retreat."
The attack is so sudden and two on each person.
Barabus nips at the creatures, so they avoid him best they can.

Mania slams the door closed once all back other side of door. She sinks to the floor, cross-legged. Her palms hold the rattling door closed.

The nightmares vanish in a cloud that smells of brimstone, when killed.

NIGHTMARE REGION = six pairs of white flaming ovals move high in the dim grey darkness, as they are approaching party realise they are eyes of dark 'mothman' creatures. There mouths open in a weird low pitched skrieking.
Mania roars into the darkness - sending a rainbow of glittering bubbles from her mouth. Gone is the unsettled, fidgeting person - Mania is now still and solumn as she stares at the approaching creatures.
In three voices that speak over each other, Mania says, "Right. Stay here. I'll be back in a jiffy."
If let her enter the door, she will charge at the creatures - Mania growing either further in size.
When she returns, she will be colourless and panting. Blood of dark grey splatters over her - is any her's ?
* If Party enter - white fire and massive creatures attack. Barabus hides behind the largest party member - he growls.

DREAM's THRONE ROOM = a medium grey surface covers the door opening.

Mania puts her hand on it cautiously, and as she moves it you see that it is a thick curtain.
The curtain moves aside, and everything inside is an extremely grey.
Boneless ( Undead ) rest around the throne.
Dream Stalkers guard The Nightmare King
On the throne sits a massive, pale grey drow ( dark Elves ) with dark grey twisted horns and rows of spiked teeth (like a shark) - slim build, as it stands thick, grey tenticles grow off frame. The Nightmare Kings also known as Oneiros, and Lord Nagmerrie.

Mania only has a quarterstaff of birdcalls.
Barnabus is cornered by Boneless.


MAIN ENTRANCE = the plane of amber has formed
Opening the door, instead of darkness expected, there is a orange glow. She steps cautiously forward.

Mania giggles with shock, saying "It has been a while since I've been truely surpirsed."
A feeling of being stuck surges over her. Past Mania a shinny path swivers through the solid and liquid amber within the recently formed plane. The ground too is made of amber - only thicker and of a darker shade.
In the distance a massive star is trapped within the amber, like a flaming ball in the orange.

"It is weird how this doesn't seem to be freaking me out at all. Not the new plane. Nor the turning into an amber tree."

  • If played in the Shadowfell, all living creatures who hear it will die within 1 day.
  • If played in the Prime Material Plane, like on Esau, it becomes an ear-worm tune to all within 100 miles. That cannot be forgotten until hear a special tune from childhood.

  • CANDY MOUNTAINS

    The clouds are grey with an amber lining, floating in a lime green sky.
    As you walk towards the Candy Mountains, you see a glass tube, that twists around about 10 to 15 feet above the ground. The tube stretches from somewhere near where you stand up into the Candy Mountains. It looks like a slide.

    DC11 = find the end of the glass tube.
    DC12 = notice animals watching the tube.
    DC15 = Looking around you might notice some small critters - sloths, pandas and feathered rabbits climbing lingering around end of tube.
    DC18 = notice the slide actually goes in reserve, so animals climb on and go upwards into the Candy Mountains.

    At top of slide, is a creature hidden as a snow mound (attacks Merv in the head)
    Snowball fight with thick cream and sprinkles. Started by a snow goon monster (DM rolls d8 for number of mounds) - looks like snowball with stick arms and legs, coal eyes and mouth, no nose.
    Cream drips down the back of your neck. Creamy snow tastes sweetened.

    Fey Style Village
    Within the Candy Mountains, past the forest of raspberry drop trees (hard raspberry candy), there is a small petite Fey style village. The wooden little houses painted white with golden trim, that form a U shaped circle around a stone well. At the opening, stands a large building - Town Hall: used for dances, fairs, meetings and the like.
    There is the smells of unknown pickled meat on a split, coming from inside many of the houses. Tiny hooded lanterns hang in front of the front doors.
    The village is home to small creatures (lazy - easy work, easy play), who look-like, wear the masks of, cherubs when other people or creatures are around.
    * Bai hear whispering before the small Cherub looking creatures appear to the sound of chiming bells - baby faces, chubby cheeks, small white gloves, petite white feathery wings, white long gowns, blue eyes, and soft curly hair - don't speak, feet rest in creamy snow. Underneath the masks are small ghoul type creatures with thin lips, wide mouths, jaggered razor-sharp teeth, icey blue eyes, bald with grey skin, clawed hands and feet, as well as gravely voices.
    They are looking to harm no one, and hate how people are scared of their appearances. They are vultures - seeking already dead creatures to dine on.
    INSIGHT: 1 = think they are pretty cupids; 2-7 = no idea if telling truth; 8-12 = they are lying about something; 13-15 = realise they are wearing masks; 16-18 = notice the claws on feet; 19+ = notice cold Undead stares of their blue eyes; 20 = notice their wings detach and skin colouring of back of neck.

    The entrance to the larger building has a new golden surround to the doors - it is in truth the edging to the front of the mirror. While the backing to the mirror is inside the town hall as the backing to a painting of Mania dancing around the wall in the town with the unmasked cherubs/ghouls.

    There was a pop up auction of items, and pieces were split between those who wanted them. The villagers brought the amazing mirror - then the reflection glass of the mirror was brought by some water nypmhs in exchange for bodies of drowned travellers.

    BRIGHT FOREST

    Sky is bright Purple with thin pale rainbow tinted clouds, all with amber linings.
    In the Bright Forest, the leaves are scattered on the ground (in this region it is Autumn). Colourful hair is scattered around, like dogs fur, blowing in the soft breeze. It is Unicorn hair.

    ROLL Perception (advantage for Fey creatures).
    You notice a mushroom circle in front of you, surrounding a Rowan tree. A rough cliff face is on the left of it.
    If you head to the right side of the circle, you head across a Hidden Trap
    Hidden Pit = This pit has a cover constructed from material identical to the floor around it. A successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check discerns an absence of foot traffic over the section of floor that forms the pit’s cover. A successful DC 15 Intelligence (Investigation) check is necessary to confirm that the trapped section of floor is actually the cover of a pit.
    When a creature steps on the cover, it swings open like a trapdoor, causing the intruder to spill into the pit below. The pit is usually 10 or 20 feet deep but can be deeper. Once the pit trap is detected, an iron spike or similar object can be wedged between the pit’s cover and the surrounding floor in such a way as to prevent the cover from opening, thereby making it safe to cross. The cover can also be magically held shut using the arcane lock spell or similar magic.

    DESPAIR

    Despair moves slow on large bare feet, with head down. She has a large figure with rolls of flesh, naked for all to see. The pupils of her eyes are small and surrounded by the paleiest blue. Her skin is covered in various cuts and scars - of different depths. Her long thick black hair is tangled and matted, like a haphazard bird's nest around her face.
