Language Rules:

Masculine and Feminine Words are identified by letter signifiers at the end of the word. Basic masculine words end with the letter i. Basic feminine words end with the letter a. With regard to phrases, the denoting of gender is attached to the end of the phrase rather than to the subject word. For instance, followers could be (Sasi), but followers of the dragon would be (Sa'a El'tarsi) and not (Sasi'a El'tar).

Compound words are noted with a ('). For instance, (el ruk), the old, becomes (El'ruk). Every two words are compounded using ('). Every single word after a compound word is left along unless a fourth word is added to the sentence, which makes the third and fourth words into a compound word. For instance, follower of the dragon (sa a el tar) becomes (Sa'a El'tar). It is important to note, however, that many of the most ancient words came to be compounded without using ('). The first letter of every compound word is capitalized. Numbers are only ever compounded with other numbers. For instance, four days would be (Ru larasa) instead of (Ru'larasa).

Plural words and phrases are created by adding si or sa to the end of a word. For instance, follower (sa) becomes followers (sasi) for the masculine and (sasa) for the feminine. (Sasi means male followers, or a mixture of male and female and Sasa means female followers). With regard to phrases, if the subject of the phrase is being pluralized then the denoting of pluralization is added to the end of the phrase rather than to the subject word. For instance, instead of (Sa'a El'tar) becoming (Sasi'a El'tar), it becomes (Sa'a El'tarsi).

The word "no" is always added to the end of the word which is being described with the ('). For instance, the failthless, or those with "no faith," is (Virni) and not (ni'vir) or (vir'ni). Another example is (Rana'a Fyrni), which would literally be read as "pit of airno" but should be translated as "Pit of No Air" or "Airless Pit."

Death retains a special rule regarding its use in the old language. Anytime the word death (cae) is used in a compound word it comes first in that word. For instance, when using any other compound word such as Torandria (tool country), the words in the old language follow the same sentence structure as the words in the common tongue. (Toran = tool and dria=country). However, with any compound word including death (cae), death comes first. (Caeda) is translated as from death, though it literally means death from, because the ancients believed that death was such an important subject that if it was to spoken of then it should be spoken in a sentence as early as possible to get it out of the way and to let others in the conversation know that it would be on the dark subject of death.
