The Circle of Arcanum

Magic controlled

As magic grows more and more common, people grow into magicians, wizards, witches and mages. They gain power and realise both the destructive and recreational powers of magic. It’s decided by a group of the most powerful Magic Bringers as well as several other powerful magic users that magic and its use must be monitored, surveyed and constricted. Each magician must pass an examination to even be allowed to use magic and each new spell attempted to be cast must be done so in front of the Circle.

The Circle of Arcanum consisted of:
  • Minister Quessar Deltoren (Abjuration),
  • Solaris Ordri Manastra (Illusion),
  •  High Magister Thandalor Shadoweave (Enchantment),
  • Great-Caller Geardkosh (Divination),
  • Firebringer Rheyzor Greyskull (Evocation),
  • Galyen Trenzalore the Scale Wizard (Transmutation),
  • Magic Bringer Rakjiavik (Necromancy),
  • Tarakan the Forest Father (Conjuration),
  • Frystikir Melgrim Deityspeaker (Divinium).

Structure

The Circle of Arcanum is a horizontal hierarchy wherein each members voice and vote is equal to any other voice on the council. Given that all members effectively both works as researchers and jury that validifies set research. Each member use to research in different fields of the arcane in hopes of new discovery and for each new spell created the rest of the council would choose observers that would oversee the initial casting of the spell and then deem the spell on different levels of danger.

Public Agenda

Whilst the Circle largely sought to ensure safety around the arcane arts, it also sought to create a centralized place in the world that would welcome arcane research no matter what level of ability a wizard or witch might have. The Circle oversaw their city, Clairikajro as they work to make it serve as the focal point for the study of the arcane. Many however also believed that the Circle initially worked as Eastrix first Magocracy; the term used to describe a government ruled by wizards and witches.

History

The circle´s long history has been forgotten to time largely however many know that once there was a council that oversaw the use of magic as magic became more normal to use. The initial founding of the circle is arcuate to this idea, as it was originally different Magic Bringers from all over the world that collectively formed the circle. Specifically it’s decided by a group of the most powerful Magic Bringers as well as several other powerful magic users that magic and its use must be monitored.
As The Magic Bringers of the world establishes The Circle Of Arcanum, they come to realise the difficulties that come with having an intracontinental organization administrating magic in countries being parted by the many and vast seas. Not only that but the different people of Eastrix grow wearier and wearier with arcanum and divinum distribution and tensions start to rise as some people have a more developed understanding of magic than others. What one nation has, another one wants. To keep the peace and prosperity of the world The Magic Bringers together decide that they will use Galyen’s Move Mountain to create a flying capital of the world, where peace and community come first. Clairikajro, The World Capital is established, hovering thousands of feet in the sky. Many people from the get-go settle in the world capital and as the years go by many more join them. This event also went hand in hand with the first casting of a higher than 9th level spell in history. Galyen along with Rakjiavik and Galyens pupil Havi together cast this spell whilst surveyed by the council, with High Magister Thandalor Shadowweave helming the survey. Through many years the Circle flourished however in what now is known as the Weave´s Conclude, the Circle fell due to their own hubris. As a burst of magical energy flies out over the entire continent of Eastrix, magic stops to work and panic ensue. All spells that previously had been concentrated or held in place with the use of magical items suddenly completely stopped working. Clerics lost their affinity to contact the gods for guidance and wizards could no longer utilize the weave. With this Clairikajros magic core, The Astral Hand stopped working. Clairikajro falls out of the sky, crashing towards the ground rapidly. Most denizens of Cairikajro die during the fall, the few left die afterwards as marauders and thieves kill and loot them. This supposedly also was the day that The Circle of Arcanum fell and many of their records were lost. No one knows where Clairikajro fell so much of this event is shrouded in mystery.
