The Wild Fangs
The Wild Fangs are a notorious bandit faction that has risen to power in the post-apocalyptic landscape of Chernarus. Comprised of various smaller bandit gangs that once fought for dominance, the Wild Fangs have unified under a tenuous alliance, becoming a significant threat to both the local population and other factions. They embody the chaotic and brutal nature of the new world, thriving in the lawlessness that prevails.
Operational Information
The Wild Fangs were formed in 2048, when the leaders of several prominent bandit gangs recognized that they could not survive against the overwhelming force of the two dominant peacekeeping factions—the Iron Hand and the Military Remnants—if they remained divided. In a rare moment of cooperation, these leaders convened in the ruins of an old fortress to negotiate an alliance. The result was the formation of the Wild Fangs, a coalition of bandits united by their shared desire for power and survival. By pooling their resources and manpower, they transformed from disorganized raiders into a formidable faction capable of holding their own against even the most disciplined military forces.
Organizational Structure
The Wild Fangs are led by a council of gang leaders, each of whom controls their own territory and forces. The council makes decisions collectively, but power struggles and shifting alliances are common, reflecting the faction's chaotic nature. Despite this, a rough hierarchy exists within the typical Wild Fang groups, with three distinct groups making up the bulk of their forces:
- Ravagers (70% of the force): The backbone of the Wild Fangs, Ravagers are the typical bandits who engage in raiding, ambushing, and skirmishing. They are armed with a variety of scavenged weapons, ranging from melee tools to firearms. Known for their brutality and lack of discipline, Ravagers rely on sheer numbers and their willingness to fight to overwhelm their enemies.
- Shadows (10% of the force): Operating primarily at night, the Shadows are the assassins and infiltrators of the Wild Fangs. They use the cover of darkness to launch surprise attacks, often employing melee weapons for silent kills, though some are equipped with sniper rifles. The Shadows are feared for their stealth and lethality, appearing out of nowhere to strike before vanishing back into the night.
- Wreckers (20% of the force): The Wreckers are the heavy weapons specialists of the Wild Fangs. Equipped with heavy armor and powerful weapons, including scavenged prototype exoskeletons, they are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Wreckers are often deployed to break through fortified positions or to engage heavily armed opponents. They are led by pack leaders known for their ferocity and tactical cunning.
Doctrine and Tactics
The Wild Fangs rely on their numbers, ruthlessness, and unpredictability to gain the upper hand in battle. They favor hit-and-run tactics, using the terrain to their advantage and avoiding prolonged engagements unless they are confident of victory. Their unity, though fragile, allows them to coordinate large-scale attacks that can catch even the most prepared enemies off guard.
- Ravagers serve as the frontline troops, wearing down the enemy through sheer force of numbers.
- Shadows conduct sabotage, assassination, and create chaos behind enemy lines.
- Wreckers deliver the final blow with their heavy firepower, crushing any remaining resistance.
Notable Characteristics
- Savage Unity: The Wild Fangs maintain a fragile unity driven by their shared hatred of the peacekeeping factions and their desire for power. Internal conflicts and shifting alliances are common, but the overall structure remains intact due to their collective need for survival.
- Resourceful Scavengers: The Wild Fangs are adept at scavenging and repurposing old technology and weapons, allowing them to maintain and even improve upon the gear they acquire.
- Territorial Control: They have established control over several key regions in Chernarus, turning them into lawless zones where they enforce their own brutal form of governance.
Individualism and Alignments
The Wild Fangs are largely Chaotic Neutral, with individual members ranging from Chaotic Evil to Neutral Evil. They are driven by self-interest, power, and survival, caring little for the rules or order imposed by other factions.
While a lot of the Fangs have embraced the Council's instructions of hierarchy, there are still a number of Bandit factions that consider themselves as part of the Wild Fangs, but do not want to give up their autonomy. The known bandit groups of the time are the following:
