Iron Hand
The Iron Hand is a formidable and highly organized militaristic faction that emerged from the remnants of the Chernorussian military. Disillusioned by what they perceived as the military’s ineffective approach to the post-apocalyptic threats, a group of soldiers and officers broke away to form the Iron Hand. Their goal is clear: to restore order to Chernarus by any means necessary, creating a militaristic state that can protect its people and exterminate the infestation that plagues the land.
History
The Iron Hand was formed shortly after the initial devastation of the Kry-Zok war and the subsequent infestation that ravaged Chernarus. As the military struggled to maintain control and protect the populace, a group of disillusioned soldiers and officers decided that the existing leadership was too weak to handle the crisis. Led by General Viktor "Iron Will" Sokolov, they staged a mutiny, splitting from the main military force and taking with them a significant portion of the remaining military assets. In the years that followed, the Iron Hand scavenged battlefields and old military installations, eventually discovering a cache of destroyed prototype exo-skeletons left behind from earlier conflicts between the Terran Defense Authority (TDA) and the Kry-Zok. These exo-skeletons were reverse-engineered by the Iron Hand’s engineers, creating powerful suits that gave their elite soldiers a significant edge in combat. Today, the Iron Hand operates as a strict, authoritarian force, focused on expanding its territory and bringing all of Chernarus under its control. Their vision is to establish a new military state where order is maintained through strength and fear.
Doctrine
The Iron Hand operates under a strict military doctrine that emphasizes overwhelming force, discipline, and the absolute authority of its leaders. They believe in the concept of "Strength Through Order," where every citizen has a place within their rigid hierarchy, and where dissent is crushed to maintain stability.
- Combat Doctrine: The Iron Hand relies on heavy weaponry, armored vehicles, and their reverse-engineered exo-skeletons to dominate the battlefield. Their soldiers are trained to follow orders without question, and their strategy revolves around shock and awe tactics, often deploying their elite exo-troopers to break enemy lines and secure strategic points.
- Recruitment and Conscription: The Iron Hand practices widespread conscription, particularly focusing on the youth, whom they train rigorously to become future soldiers in their war against the infestation and other factions. Civilians in Iron Hand-controlled territories are often drafted into service or required to contribute to the war effort in other ways.
Rank Structure
- Commander: The highest-ranking officer, responsible for overall strategy, decisions, and the direction of the Iron Hand. Currently held by General Viktor "Iron Will" Sokolov.
- Captain: Officers who command significant sections of the Iron Hand’s forces, including battalions or specific operations.
- Lieutenant: Junior officers who serve directly under Captains, leading smaller units in combat and overseeing day-to-day operations.
- Sergeant: Non-commissioned officers who act as the backbone of the Iron Hand's military, leading squads and maintaining discipline among the ranks.
- Corporal: Experienced soldiers who have shown leadership potential, often given command of smaller groups within a squad.
- Private-Scout: Trained soldiers who have proven their skills in combat and are often used for reconnaissance and specialized missions.
- Recruit: New conscripts who have just begun their training. Recruits are drilled rigorously before being sent into the field.
Technology
The Iron Hand is known for its use of reverse-engineered exo-skeletons, which were scavenged from battlefields and rebuilt by their engineers. These exo-skeletons enhance the strength, speed, and durability of their elite soldiers, making them a terrifying force on the battlefield. Only the most trusted and skilled soldiers are given the honor of wearing these suits.
Relations with Other Factions
- Hostile: The Iron Hand is in direct conflict with several factions, most notably the Military Remnants, from whom they originally split. Their aggressive expansionism and authoritarian rule have also put them at odds with other groups like the New Sun Syndicate, the Echo Collective, and the Silver Legacy.
- Neutral: The Iron Hand maintains a tenuous neutrality with certain scavenger groups, whom they occasionally trade with for supplies and information.
Leadership
General Viktor "Iron Will" Sokolov is the leader of the Iron Hand, a strict and uncompromising figure who believes that only through total military control can Chernarus be saved. His leadership is marked by his ruthlessness, unwavering discipline, and his ability to inspire absolute loyalty in his troops.
Future Objectives
The Iron Hand’s ultimate goal is to establish a new military state in Chernarus, where order is maintained through the iron-fisted rule of its commanders. They seek to expand their territory, crush all opposition, and conscript the population into their war against the infestation and any other threats that arise.
