Hol'dyn Space
Hol'dyn Space, also known as Holding Space, is a settlement in the Marshmellow Marshes of the Dreamrealms known for it's dense population of souls who have died in the real world, but refuse to move on and reincarnate. Due to this, the city has become a coalescence of culture and a hub for those looking to see lost loved ones and ancient ancestors.
The settlement enforces a strict 'deceased only policy' meaning that the only people that can enter and stay in the settlement have to be detached from their waking bodies, this is due to the expectation amongst people in the dream realms that the dead should almost never interact with the living as to not influence or dampen their lives and allow people to move on. Some folk do crowd around the outer perimeters though, hoping for a glimpse and the ability to say goodbye, and others arrange rendezvous.
Demographics
The population of Hol'dyn space mainly consists of the souls of the deceased due to it's policy of not allowing people who still have a soul anchored the the living realm within the walls. This is due to the cultural expectation of those who are still 'living' to move on and not be heavily influenced by the wants and whims of the 'dead'.
There is a small set of smaller towns outside it's walls of living people although it is highly discouraged by the township to camp or stay there long term. Visits outside the walls is generally considered okay for recently deceased as to allow people the ability to say goodbye but the general consensus is that the living must move on and evolve independent from the deceased and that culture should be allowed to stagnate or become too rigid. Although these sentiments may be enforced in different lengths from person to person.
Government
Although all of the Dreamrealms is mainly overseen by the Stewards of the Universe, the people who have chosen to live long-term in the Dreamrealms have chosen to form a type of pseudo-mayoral government. They host democratic elections each quarter-cycle and try their best to represent a range of different origin cultures.
Support and funding for the Hol'dyn Space's mayoral government is supported by the Stewards of the Universe with the organisation offering peacekeeping services and helping them uphold their values of keeping their population almost exclusively comprised of non-waking folk.
Districts
Within Hol'dyn space there are many minor districts, usually based around clusters of cultures that once existed within the Namian planet, with each district choosing to fashion it's architecture and cultural aesthetics into a facsimile of what their culture might appear close to in the waking realms, but using the materials and textures available to them in the Dreamrealms.
