Kingdom of Indon

The Kingdom of Indon is a dwarven society cut into the Great Mountains. This kingdom is one of the first civilizations in Draconia.

Structure

A king rules Indon with absolute authority. The right to rule is hereditary and is passed down only through the male line. No female can be the reigning monarch. If the queen will not bear a son, then the king is allowed to take as many wives as needed to gain a male heir. In fact, the king is never forbidden from taking multiple wives as the king can do no wrong. Kings have even been known to call women in to indulge his carnal desire. When a man is in debt to the king, it is common for that man to give his wife and/or daughter, and sometimes his son, as payment to the king.   This right to rule and the idea of infallibility come from the belief that the king is the mortal host for Horus. Meaning that the King is the literal embodiment of Horus on the Material Plane. This claim is thoroughly rejected and condemned by the Coalition of the Sovereign Institutes of Horus, which has led to some rocky relations between the Kingdom and the religion. Tensions between other nations came to a head when it was revealed that Ulceaon Liadon was the true Eye of Horus. This caused contention between Indon and the The United Empire of Elysium, where Ulceaon was the Prince Regent beside Emperor Laucian Xiloscient. They believed Ulceaon was an imposter wanting to usurp their king.

Culture

Women have so few rights in the public sphere that rape is not even a crime in Indon unless committed against a male. A woman convicted of rape is immediately put to death. It is permissible in Indon for a boy to sleep with his sister and even encouraged so the boy can gain experience.

Assets

The Kingdom boasts a large collection of gold and precious jewels, mined from the very mountain in which they dwell. The people hardly see any of this wealth, however, as most of it is given to the royal treasury and the king. As such the people spend their lives in enormous poverty, and some of them dislike this so much that they leave the Kingdom. Upon leaving, they are declared to have defected which is considered treason and punishable by death. For this reason, citizens who leave most often flee to the Supreme Republic of Talle or the United Empire of Elysium, neither of which has an extradition treaty with Indon.

Religion

There is only one religion allowed in Indon and that is the True Order of Horus. The King serves as the Speaker of the Great God, a position similar to a high priest. This is because the King is considered the mortal host of Horus and thus the King is the only one who can speak the will of Horus. Though the King has no clerical magic, seeing as such power could only come through Horus who is thoroughly disgusted by this false religion, the King operates by a show of strength and often masters another form of magic to give the appearance of divine power.   No other religious organization is allowed to operate within Indon. No citizen of Indon is allowed to attend the University of Thoth. Those that seek this education must first renounce their citizenship by defecting, which means that they will never be able to return to Indon, nor will their families be able to see them again.

Foreign Relations

The Kingdom of Indon is not on particularly good terms with any nations except for the Empire of Sirine. However, the extent of that relationship is trade. Sirine is the avenue by which most of the rest of Draconia trades with Indon.

Education

Only boys are educated in Indon. Girls are taught at home by their mothers, and are instructed only in how to be a good servant to their future husbands.
