The ocean that envelops Systerra is an infinite abyss, a vast expanse characterized by profound emptiness. This "sea of zeros" and nihility of nothingness is known as the Void.
Unlike the familiar Medium within the Nexus, the Void possesses unique properties that set it apart. It has a subtle but discernible boundary layer, a threshold where the sky meets the dense emptiness of the Void. This boundary is marked by an unsettling stillness, a tension that signifies the transition to the pervasive absence of matter.
It appears that the Void is entirely lacking in Energetic Flux, resulting in the formation of the distinct boundary layer that separates the Medium from the Void itself. This boundary layer is hypothosized to be the very substrate upon which the landmass of Systerra is suspended. This unique phenomenon gives Systerra the appearance of a floating island within the vast expanse of the Nexus.
Contrary to belief, the Void is not entirely devoid of substance. Within its depths, small clusters of bits sporadically drift. Somehow, being denser than the surrounding Medium, they lack the mass required to support any object or individual, including any flying Construct found on Systerra. Because of this, it is theorized that if one were to step into the Void, they would experience an endless descent into an infinite expanse, surrounded by an unsettling stillness and an absence of direction. Despite this, there is only one known creature that resides within the Void, feeding on the sparse bits that speckle the empty space.
Fauna & Flora
In the vast, desolate expanses of the Void, the only sentient life form to thrive is the enigmatic Void Leviathan. This colossal Construct has adapted remarkably to its environment. Its primary sustenance comes from the sparse clusters of bits that occasionally drift throughout the infinite darkness.
Thanks to the absence of natural predators, the Void Leviathan can achieve staggering proportions. Its massive form is designed for efficient navigation through the Void, allowing it to glide through the rarefied Medium.
Intriguingly, even in an environment devoid of Energetic Flux, the Void Leviathan has evolved a mechanism that enables it to synthesize Energetic Flux within its own body. This unique adaptive trait allows the Construct not only to break down the bits it consumes but also to reshape them to fuel its massive form. It is theorized that due to the lack of Energetic Flux in its environment and the ability to synthesize it within its own body, the Void Leviathan is not limited by the Bit Limit, allowing it to grow to an infinite size.
