This is a transit site, a staging zone where the Scalpel Man:

4. finding this will allow players who have a connection with the doctors to test the blood for DNA
5. Communed with the book—or what he believes the book wants—based on gibbering prayers scrawled onto the walls:

Why Here Instead of the Surgical Lab?

• The Scalpel Man doesn’t always have time to return to the Surgical Bay.
• This location offers proximity to the body drop site (the library) while still remaining hidden.
• It’s where he performs "preliminary rites"—symbolic cleansing, sigil application, and the “opening whisper” ritual that binds the kill to the Book’s growing consciousness.
• This tunnel is closer to Nissa’s quarters than the Surgical Bay—suggesting the killer is circling her.
