The Blood War
The longest running war on the Spheres it is believed that it will continue until the last Elf or the last Orc dies. Believing that the Taint of the Orc is a existential threat the Elves seek to wipe it from the Spheres. And the Orcs will not let that happen.
The First Exodus
When the Taint of the Orc occurred, the Elves touched by it were made pariahs and banished to Darkwood. Once The Well was created, those who bore the Taint were killed to be reincarnated. Their children were driven deep into Darkwood where they eventually found a Golden Path to Val'Dorath. There they created a new society.
The Age of Woe
As the Elves expanded on Darkwood, they found the Golden Path to Val'Dorath. Discovering the Orcs still existed, they began a war of extermination against them.
The Shattering
In an attempt to end the war the Crystal Elves attempted to take sole control of the Elven Council. When the details of their plot was revealed it caused a civil war that ended with the majority of the Crystal Elves were banished to Menzorastar. In the chaos the Orcs were able to organize and push the Elves from Val'Dorath.
The War for Darkwood
Once the Elves were pushed back to Darkwood they were able to rally and solidify their defense. Also, as the Elves were isolated from Val'Dorath and the Orcs were safe, they dug in and held the Pathway. Other than expeditions to harvest the wood of Darkwood, they are satisfied with holding the Pathway.
The Nexus Detante
To resist the Dwarven March, the Elves had to contribute to the Third Nexus War. Before the war was done, they discovered that Orcs existed on Nexus. But the Orcs' resources were necessary for the war. When the war ended the Elves insisted on fortifying the Nexus end of the Val'a Golden Path in violation of the Nexus Accords. Surprisingly the Orcs supported their exception as to cast a negative light on the Elves
However, this did not reduce the conflict on Darkwood. The Elves could not allow the Orcs to advance for fear of disrupting The Well, and the Orcs can not risk surrendering the Pathway to Val'Dorath for fear of the Elves following them through. So the war continues.
