The Well
Its location only known by Emerged Elves, The Well is the source of Elven immorality through reincarnation.
History
Founding The Well
During the Godswar, the Ancient Elves crafted the Well, creating a cycle of reincarnation that provides them immortality. In revenge for their hubris, the Ancient Elves were cursed by the Gods to create the Orcs. The elves were able to drive the orcs to Val'Dorath and since they were no longer on the sphere, they believed they has exterminated them all.
The Blood War
For the majority of the Blood War, Darkwood remained untouched, serving as a path for war materiel and armies to reach Val'Dorath. The Darkwood Elves personal involvement in the war was limited, just one more tithe of soldiers among many.
War Eternal
After The Shattering, support for the Blood War collapsed and the Orcs were able to take and reinforce the Golden Path to Val'Dorath. Since then the Orcs have dedicated themselves to preventing the Elves from ever setting foot on Val'Dorath. On the other side the Elves are dedicated to pushing them back to protect The Well. Once specialists in the Blood War, the Darkwood Elves are now the front-line foot-solders of what is shaping up to be an eternal war. Their culture has been sharpened into a weapon.
Government
Scattered through Darkwood the Darkwood Elves are grouped into semi-nomadic tribes that are preparing for war to be cycled to the front line every decade. They fight until suffering enough losses to fall back and be replaced by another tribe. As with all Elven governments, each tribe is led by its Emerged Elves. Unlike other Elven governments, Darkwood Elves generally stay out of the power politics that the rest of Elven society engages in. As such, they are the least likely to be Banished from the Well.
The War Council
Now that the war is on Darkwood, the Darkwood Elves are no longer one voice among many in the War Council, now they dominate the Council. This has backfired in that the other House's involvement in the war continues to diminish.
Religion
As with all elves, the Darkwood Elves do not worship Spirits, Saints, or Gods. The closest to priests within their culture are the Primalshapers and Wizards as they can manipulate the Arcane and Primal forces.
