Golden Paths
Before the Godswar every Sphere was connected to every other with a series of Golden Paths, temples that connected the Spheres with walkable extraplanar corridors. Moving from world to world required an hour's walk through the tunnel of golden light that linked two Spheres together.
After the Godswar the system was left in tatters. Where 120 Golden Paths once crisscrossed the Dancing Spheres, by the time of the Nexus Accords, only 16 remain, two of which are only known by specific cultures.
Temple Terminus
The enigmatic Pathkeepers seem to maintain the Golden Paths. Emerging and disappearing through walls, the Pathkeepers seem to understand the secrets of the Golden Paths. Rarely do they interact with outsiders and when pressed will merely fade from existence.
The only time the Pathkeepers interact with outsiders is when sending an emissary to the Accord Council on Nexus, when enforcing the Accords exclusion zone, and when Blood Hunters turn over Sorcerous or Psionic individuals in exchange for the Blood Bounty. Rumor has it that those dedicated enough can attempt to join the Pathkeepers, but none who do so ever return to tell their secrets.
At the end of each Golden Path is a gleaming white temple of unearthly marble mortared with gold. From it's central peak a column of golden light reaches for the sky. At night it can be seen from miles around.
The Entry Corridor
The Entry corridor is a long corridor that perpetually slopes upward, yet you feel as if the ground is perfectly level. There are no doors or corridors leading off from the entry corridor. Pathkeepers can be occasionally seen polishing or cleaning the Entry Corridor. The Entry Corridor ends at the Tunnel of Gold.
The Tunnel of Gold
A tunnel of golden light, the raging Maelstrom can be seen just beyond its bounds. Typically walkable in an hour, the Pathkeepers provide hovering slabs that carry cargo at a comfortable pace. Animals are not allowed to walk the Tunnel of Gold and must be carried on the hovering slabs. Because of the reliance on the Golden Paths' for trade between Spheres, the paths are perpetually being traversed in both directions, kept moving by the Pathkeepers. Those who attempt to disrupt the flow will be removed from the plane of existence by the Pathkeepers only to reappear outside the nearest Temple Terminus weeks or possibly years later have had no time pass for them.
