Devotion

Devotion is a power held by Mortal souls. On their own that Devotion generally cannot be channeled into physical effects as that power is limited and cannot effect the Primal Forces. However, with Devotion accrued from a sufficient population of Mortals, manifestations of power are possible. That Devotion given to a Divinity can power divine effects in the Mortal Realm, either through Channeling, the sending of Outsiders to the Mortal Realm, or in rare cases direct intervention.

Prophets

Divinities can express their desires to Mortals that have made Pacts or are Adherent of that Divinity. Through these agents they can remain safe in their refuge in the Astral Sea while expressing their influence on the Mortal Realm. From these communications, prophetic dreams, or revelations the Divinity can craft a structure of worship to channel more Devotion to themselves.

Religion

The nature of Mortal Devotion can change the nature of the Divinity receiving it. Mortal desires and ideologies can influence the Divinity changing their behavior, ideology, and perspective on existence. To prevent this drift Divinities encourage and cultivate religions to codify their existence and shape the souls of their followers in a way that they will not cause the Divinity to change. As such these religions will dictate the follower's behaviors, ideologies, and even effect personalities to create ideal followers who channel their Devotion the "right way".

Divinities

Devotion is the currency Divinities trade in. Though worship, pacts, contracts, and other means they are the focal point of Mortal Devotion and with that Devotion they can pierce the veil between the Planes and the Mortal Realm.

Outsiders

Generally outsiders are middlemen for some more powerful being, acting as agents of that more powerful being's will. Such beings are so far removed from mortal concerns that they are alien consciousnesses unable to get mortals to relate to them. However through Outsiders they can interact with the people of the Mortal Realm somewhat on their level, cultivating Devotion.
