Proxima

Proxima is a garden world about 80% smaller than Old World Earth. It orbits a Red Dwarf Star within the habitable zone, leading to an atmosphere, seasons, and a water cycle very similar to Earth.   The first planet colonized outside of the Sol system. Proxima A was first visited in 2084 CE, when a transport ship accidently traveled from Sol to Proxima Centauri. After this discovery and new possibility of further expansion, the governments of Earth, set to colonize the new world. This was achieved in late 2091 CE. Initially only a small colony was established but as the years passed more colonists would soon gather. This first colony came to be known as New Vancouver. When Earth was facing it's destruction 2272 CE, many of Earth's population moved to Proxima. Here many cities were quickly established as the new home of humanity, and now also the new home of the Hegemony of Man. During the Outer Rim wars, Proxima saw very little excursions from the outer rim colonies. As such a good portion of Proxima gathered a more off hands approach to the war. A out of sight out of mind belief towards it. Even during the purges many of the humans that had genetic mutations found some relative safety amongst the people of Proxima. As long as their mutations were not overly visible.   As Headframes and Hyper Reality/TAP started to come onto the scene, Proxima was the first planet to adopt the technology. Many other planets would follow suit in the coming years. But it was Proxima that lead the charge.   During the rise of the Catholic Church on Proxima, many of the citizens who had been dealing with the economic downturns turned to religion. This further fueled the church and with it, they would create a major political party that quickly ousted the Hegemony of Man. PAX would be the new theocracy that would take it's place. With Proxima at its center, the Catholic Church quickly spread throughout the universe in full force.   In 3032 CE it is revealed that PAX had been turning it's citizens into mindless husks to fuel their Crucible technology. The technology that was being used to make the higher echelons of the Catholic Church immortal. Proxima was the center of the battle that would follow. This left portions of the planet completely uninhabitable.
