Sol ((/ˈsɒl/), Sól,)
Sol is the birthplace of humanity with multiple planets that orbit a G-type main-sequence star (G2V), informally called a yellow dwarf. The largest of such objects are the seven planets, in order from the Sun: three terrestrial planets named Mercury, Venus, and Mars, two gas giants named Jupiter and Saturn, and two ice giants named Uranus and Neptune. The terrestrial planets have a definite surface and are mostly made of rock and metal. The gas giants are mostly made of hydrogen and helium, while the ice giants are mostly made of 'volatile' substances such as water, ammonia, and methane. In some texts, these terrestrial and giant planets are called the inner Sol System and outer Sol System planets respectively.
The Sol System was formed 4.6 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of a giant interstellar molecular cloud. Over time, the cloud formed the Sun and a protoplanetary disk that gradually coalesced to form planets and other objects. That is the reason why all seven planets have an orbit that lies near the same plane. In the present day, 99.86% of the Solar System's mass is in the Sun and most of the remaining mass is contained in the planet Jupiter. Five planets, the six largest possible dwarf planets and many other bodies have natural satellites or moons orbiting around them. All giant planets and a few smaller bodies are encircled by planetary rings, composed of ice, dust and sometimes moonlets.
There are a number of smaller dwarf planets and innumerable small bodies orbiting the Sun. These objects are distributed in the asteroid belt that lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, the Kuiper belt, the scattered disc that both lies beyond Neptune's orbit and at even further reaches of the Sol System which they would be classified as an extreme trans-Neptunian object. There is consensus among astronomers to these nine objects as dwarf planets: the asteroid Ceres, the Kuiper-belt objects Pluto, Orcus, Haumea, Quaoar, and Makemake, and the scattered-disc objects Gonggong, Eris, and Sedna. Many small-body populations, including comets, centaurs and interplanetary dust clouds, freely travel between the regions of the Solar System.
History
Humanity was locked to the planet of Earth for tens of thousands of years before they landed their first man on their orbiting celestial object known as the moon, or Luna in some historical records. From there humanity pushed further out into their own system exploring by unmanned craft. In the year 2035 CE humanity achieved a major milestone in their ability to step beyond their birthplace and settle a colony on the planet Mars, this was funded through many private investors who would fund projects not for humanity but for their own profits. Nonetheless humanity proved it was more than a single planet species.
Humanity would not push further into the solar system in colonization efforts until 2059 CE when the artificial intelligence known as the Technocore, was banished from Earth, and would settle themselves on Saturn's moon of Titan here they would build massive server farms beneath the rocky planet surface the lines the equator. Not many years later humanity would further push their ingenuity and discover Faster than Light Travel. Within two years they would conduct a successful manned flight between Earth and Mars, turning what was a nine month journey, into a journey of only ten minutes. This new space race fueled humanity to push with great speed into their own solar system, now further creating colonies or manned research stations across the Sol system.
In 2192 CE humanity would establish the Hegemony of Man the first multi system governing body with its capital being Earth.
In the year 2272 CE Argentina Scientists testing black holes, accidently create an uncontained black hole on the surface of Earth. This caused devastation effects to the planet and by the year 2309 CE the Earth disappears from the Sol system. The black hole mysteriously vanishing at the same time. With Earth which used to be the seat of governing for the Hegemony of Man presumably destroyed the capital was moved to another Star System. Sol would still hold a romance for humanity and their stories. But by this point many felt the system slowly become less important to the greater affairs of the galaxy that were cropping up.
By 2412 CE the Hegemony of Man is struck down and the theocracy known as PAX takes power over all the systems of humanity including Sol.
By 3115 ECO Sol now an independent system finds many traders, researchers, and poets still visiting it's many colonies and research stations. The capital on Mars named Elonville, along with the Technocore which is the largest governing faction within the Sol system find themselves dealing with the occasional pirate looking to score big.
