Firstgrowth Forest

Geography

Located at the Northeastern Xulpes continant, The Firstgrowth is a large expanse of diverse and well-traveled land. Relatively flat, many consider much of the Firstgrowth to be safe haven from more dangerous landscapes. While well-travled the lands are not without their hazards, large fissures can be covered up bu the lush vegitation and sinkholes seem to collapse without cause. The earth is known to tremble in the area around Spirefell and while these quakes are often quite tame, they can exasperate the crevices and uneven land that does exist.

Ecosystem

The Ecosystem of the firstgrowth forest is is incredibly diverse and would take volumes to describe every facet of life which exists under its canopy. The forest itself is large and robust enough to support large predators such as Forest Hounds and Owlbears and heard animals such as Elk and Moose. On top of this, the uneaven ground leading to dark caverns supports a large population of insects. Many predators seem to take refuge in the nearby Omenteeth Peaks to aviod the akhed-filled burroughs of the inner forest.

Localized Phenomena

A notable feature of the Firstspawn forsest is Insectoid gigantism. Giant spiders and ettercaps are common in the shadows of the canopy, especially around fissures and crevices. Ants the size of housecats are a common sight, and while these creatures may be docile their equally common ankheg relitives are aggresive and territorial.

Climate

The climate of the First Forest is temperate and seasonal. Weather patterns are quite typical with fluctions of temperature ranging from 10-89 degrees with rare exceptions. Precipitation is common with approximately 55" of rain every year.

History

The Firstgrowth is the name given to the forest as the original heroes of the Spirefell Legend and the first travelers to Spirefell City saw the resupplanting of wildlife around the epicenter which was the city proper.
