Thaddeus
Priest
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Thaddeus was a late baby for his parents, born long after his brother, Teige, had already grown into a domineering presence. Though his parents cherished him, the start contrast between Thaddeus's calm nature and Teige's explosive temper became a point of resentment in the household.
Fearing the violent streak that seemed to run through his bloodline, Thaddeus dedicated himself early to Infinite Grace and being a Priest of Eternal Harmony. He believed that through service, prayer, and abstinence, he could weaken the "Calibridge Family curse of wrath" and provide a contribution of peace to Caelum Prime.
But his life was not without contradictions. In a moment of weakness, Thaddeus fathered an illegitimate child, a secret he kept hidden but that would ripple through the family's legacy. His guilt over this transgression only deepened his devotion to Eternal Harmony, driving him harder into scripture and ceremony.
He died during the Bloody Chapel Incident, when Teige stormed one of Thaddeus's ceremonies and slaughtered everyone inside. Thaddeus was the first to fall to Teige's rage. His spirit, unlike Lyra's, did not linger, but his choices and secrets would echo for centuries in the Calibridge family.
Education
After receiving the education provided to him by his family, he went through extensive religious studies to become a priest.
Employment
He was the priest serving at Calibridge Citadel. He would lead the Eternal Harmony ceremonies and served as a moral advisor.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Thaddeus believed his life's work was to reduce the harm of his bloodline by refusing heirs and devoting himself to service. He was genuinely devoted, believing his actions brought Caelum Prime closer to balance. His secret illegitimate child haunted him, and his devotion deepened as a way to atone for what he saw as his greatest failing. Despite his brother's hatred, Thaddeus still longed for reconciliation with Teige.
