Personal history
Teige was the firstborn son of the Calibridge Family and grew up under the full expectation of inheritance. Groomed for leadership, trained in combat, and constantly reminded of his duty, he developed an early hunger for power and recognition.
The birth of his younger brother, Thaddeus, shifted everything. Teige perceived their father's warmth and praise toward Thaddeus as favoritism, while his own accomplishments were met with cold scrutiny. This jealousy hardened into cruelty. He bullied his brother relentlessly, seeking to assert dominance through humiliation and intimidation.
When Thaddeus chose to become a Priest, Teige saw it not as a noble calling but a betrayal. To him, Thaddeus's vows of celibacy and service to Eternal Harmony meant rejection of the Calibridge legacy, a disgrace that undermined the family's honor.
By the time leadership of the household fell to Teige after their father's death, his anger had cemented into unchecked tyranny. No longer restrained, he ruled with harshness, and his resentment toward Thaddeus grew into a violent obsession.
Ultimately, this lead to the Bloody Chapel Incident, when Teige stormed one of Thaddeus's ceremonies and slaughtered all present (Thaddeus, servants, and kin like Lyra). His actions desecrated the citadel's chapel and permanently stained the Calibridge name with blood and fratricide.
