Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri (α Centauri, abbreviated Alpha Cen, α Cen) is the closest star system to the Solar System, being 4.37 light-years (1.34 pc) from the Sun. It consists of three stars: Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, which form the binary star Alpha Centauri AB, and a small and faint red dwarf, Alpha Centauri C, which is loosely gravitationally bound and orbiting the other two at a current distance of about 13,000 astronomical units (0.21 ly). It is one of two star systems in the Sol Sector.   Alpha Centauri A (Rigil Kentaurus) is a main sequence yellow star (G2 V). It has one planet, a gas giant named Yulu with 7 major satellites including Kanaloa and Fuxi.   Alpha Centauri B (Toliman) orbits a common point with A at a distance of between 11.2 AU (at pericenter) and 35.6 AU (at apocenter). It is a orange main sequence star with a classification of (K1 V).   Alpha Centauri C (Proxima Centauri) orbits Alpha Centauri AB at a distance of 13,000 AU. This red dwarf star (M6 Ve) has two planets.
