Sol
The Sol system is the birth place of humanity and sits 4.3 light-years away from its nearest neighbouring system in Alpha Centauri. It is a single star system, with Sol being a main sequence yellow star of type G2 V. There are four terrestrial planets, two gas giants, and two ice giants. Other bodies include an asteroid belt, numerous minor planets, and a large number of icy bodies that orbit beyond Neptune. Mercury (0.387 AU)
Venus (0.723 AU)
Earth (1.000 AU)
Mars (1.524 AU) Jupiter (5.204 AU)
Saturn (9.583 AU) Uranus (19.218 AU)
Neptune (30.11 AU)
The four terrestrial planets are
An asteroid belt orbits beyond Mars. It includes minor planets such as Ceres, Vesta, Juno, and Pallas.
The two gas giants are

Beyond that is the Kuiper Belt (extending beyond Neptune to around 50 AU). The Kuiper Belt is a disc, similar to the asteroid belt but much larger. It includes minor planets such as Pluto, Eris, and Haumea. Marking the edge of the Solar system is the Oort Cloud, a cloud of icy planetesimals ranging from 2, 000 AU to 200, 000 AU. 1 AU (astronomical unit equals roughly 150 million kilometres.
