Underground Leylines emerged in several places throughout the world, resulting in those that lived near them gaining magical power, and ultimately, the start of the era of magic (Post-Leyline - PL). During this era, many magical beasts started to roam the realm.
After the sudden emergence of magic, many realized that some were more magically gifted than others. This resulted in a swift uprising of those who felt done wrong by the current rulers. Following a 138-year war, the previous rulers were brought down and the new magically-gifted rulers emerged.
There was still much unrest and struggle for power amonst those with magical powers. The Federation of Tyrael was founded to deal with this unrest, sometimes by politics, but more often by force. The Federation of Tyrael also ruled the study of Steamscience to be illigal and purged nearly everything related to it.
With the Federation of Tyrael bringing peace to the world, many individuals started to focus on harnessing their magical powers for the benefit of society.
Some of these dragons would became invaluable advisors for specific organizations over the next few millennia.
People started noticing a slow but steady closing of the Leylines, and with that, a corresponding reduction in their magical power. This would become increasingly more evident over the next few millennia. Whereas previously, common farmers were able to cast spells to boost the growth of their crops (e.g., Control weather, Plant growth), these spells were now only available to spellcasters that committed years of their life to learn magic.
The decline of magic resulted in the Federation of Tyrael losing power and withdrawing law enforcement in remote areas and trading routes. As a result, the Zylra Alliance was established in Thevelion as an independent orgnization that would enlist travelers and mercenaries to protect these remote places and trading routes.
With the slow and steady decline of magic, Steamscience began to emerge again under the Kingdom of Alforhom. Those that practised steamscience started to prepare for the seemingly inevitable downfall of magic and its resulting gap in power structure.
