Leopold I. "Der Friedvolle"
Leopold I. was Holy Emperor and was mostly known for his efforts to end the prolonged war against the elves of Middland.
He invited the second prince Eldrin va Vaenyrael to live in the palace of Aschstadt to negotiate peace with the elves and the establishment of an elven duchy headed by House Vaenyrael.
Even though he gave back directly controlled territories, his vassals didn't want to return the newly acquired fiefdoms. But the emperor kept pushing the issue and even punishing nobles who refused to follow his new decree.
A lot of nobles who got awarded the elven fiefdoms by Heinrich I. "Der Starke" and Theobald II. "Der Schlächter" for their loyalty and martial prowess in the previous war, were disgruntled whit Leopold and eventually plotted to kill him.
