Battle At The Pass of Allanar

The battle at the pass of Allanar was the first skirmish of the 3rd Northern Crusade and was fought between the forces of the Kingdom of Nordland and House Elenion under the leadership of Inestria va Elenion and Yannaris va Elenion.

The Conflict

Prelude

The Kingdom of Nordland had positioned a patrol force of a thousand men to guard the pass of Allanar to prevent enemies from attacking them from the rear. But the leader of the forces stationed at Burg Wassingen wasn't to worried about an army comming from the elven city of Allanar since the elves and the Holy Emperor were still not on the best terms after the Elf War, so he sent only a small force to guard the pass.   House Elenion, however, wanted to use the pass to quickly merge with the other armies of the crusading vanguard expected to clear the surroundings near Burg Wassingen to make way for the main force to lay siege to the important castle.

Deployment

While the troops of the north men, two regiments of line infantry and a regiment of viking guard supported by a regiment of archers marched south, without really knowing where their enemies are, the forces of the elves had taken up position near a ford of a river.   One regiment of Falcon Watch Archers lead by Ynnaris va Elenion hid themselves in the underbrush on the far side of the river while Inestria va Elenion made a shield wall with her war nobles near the ford another regiment of Falcon Watch Archer positioned next to them. To secure their right flank they positioned a regiment of Silver Riders a few hundred meters to the east.

Battlefield

The battle took place in the dense woods of the pass.

The Engagement

Ynnarys Falcon Watch barraged the attackers from the west, pushing them more to the east. When Inestria commanded the second regiment of the Falcon Watch to open fire, the North men quickly fell. Their archers could fire a few salvos but they were quickly killed by the precise arrow fire of the Falcon Watch.   By making their presence on the left flank of the attackers known by repeatedly rushing forward and retreating in front of the enemies faces, the Silver Guard managed to keep the enemies in range for the Falcon Watch to pick them off.   The battle ended as fast as it started with only a few elves dead. The passage to Burg Wassingen was now open.
