Goz

Goz, the Eye of the Cosmic Mother, Kainat Ana, shares her name with the smaller, swifter, and more erratic of Kumah's two moons. She is that Aspect of the Cosmic Mother which watches over the Zelayan people and their endeavors, and serves to warn both them and her lover and partner, Agil, the Mind, of dangers to come, for she sees all things, past, present, and future.   The patterns of Goz's orbit of Kumah are difficult to calculate and seemingly random, which the Zelayans attribute to the darting of the Eye to and fro to espy all that happens. While outsiders may find the presence of Goz unsettling, Zelayans see it as a comfort to always have the watchful Eye of the Cosmic Mother looking out for them.   Goz is credited with foreseeing the events of the Infinite Sorrow, and informing her lover, Agil, of their coming, which allowed him to gift Zelayans with magick so that some might escape this dreadful fate. She also gave Zelayan seers visions of distant Yer (Yorth), to which they escaped before the dreadful burning of Kumah during the Infinite Sorrow.   Goz is also credited with seeing the great peace that would follow years of war between the Zelayan people in ancient times, and so, with Agil, led them to find one another, despite the strife they would first suffer so that they might later have peace. War and peace thus fall under her dominion, and her gazing Eye pierces the deepest shadows to see truth.   Since Goz sees all, she is often aware of things as they are far before Urek, Kumah, or Agil himself are, and she uses this first knowledge to her advantage to play tricks upon the others. Though in some stories these have caused great upset, inevitably her pranks have brought the four of them closer together, and thus her harmless trickery is also revered.   Goz is closely associated with the small and clever Cevik people, whom the Awakened call Goblins, and in ancient texts and art is shown as a beautiful, swift, and perceptive Cevik woman, often alongside her lover and comrade Agil.   Devout of Goz practice the domains of War, Peace, Twilight, and Trickery.
