Security Classification: Public Access
Introductory Overview: Humans (Homo sapiens anogwinius) are the most populous and widespread of the known sophic species. Characterized by their exceptional adaptability, accelerated reproductive cycle, and rapid skill acquisition, they have become a foundational element of contemporary society. Despite a comparatively short lifespan, their capacity for high-level teamwork and sheer numbers have established them as a significant presence in nearly all non-hazardous regions of Anogwin. Due to their prevalence and early sophic status among evolved species, Human biology is often utilized as a practical, though sometimes contentious, baseline for comparative xenobiological studies.
Section: Origins & Evolution Current theory posits that Humans evolved semi-naturally from a species of advanced apes. It is believed that sustained, generational exposure to regions saturated with Morphic Myst catalyzed rapid cognitive development, elevating them to sophic status. Their formal recognition as a sophic species occurred during the Lost Age (1501-2000), a decision expedited by the strategic necessities of the Scale War.

//>_ Hacker_Override_Initiated... Karckess translating the corporate memo. //>_ "Most populous species." You know what else is populous? Rats. Roaches. They're not a 'foundational element,' they're just weeds. They can grow in any crack in the pavement, choke out the local competition, and spread like a disease. Call it 'adaptability' if you want. I call it being too stubborn and stupid to die when any other trog would have the good sense to give up.

Basic Information
Anatomy
The standard Human morphology consists of a bipedal, primate-like form with bilateral symmetry. Lifespans are the shortest among the major sophic species, typically averaging 70-90 standard years. This is offset by a high reproductive rate and an accelerated maturation cycle; gestation averages 8-9 months, with adolescence reached by age 9 and functional adulthood by 18. This rapid generational turnover is a key factor in their population dominance. Their genetic code is noted for its relative simplicity and high degree of plasticity, making them exceptionally receptive to genetic and cybernetic augmentation.
//>_ Hacker_Override_Initiated... Karckess on the fine print. //>_ "Exceptionally receptive." That's Corp-Rat for "they make the best lab rats." Dryzor loves that they can pump a Human full of experimental dreck or stitch on a new chrome arm without the subject just melting into a puddle. It's cheaper than testing on species with 'complex' genetics that might have... inconvenient reactions.
Ecology and Habitats
Humans can be found in almost any region across Anogwin save for Threat Zones of Orange Class or greater.
Behaviour
Section: Societal Aptitudes
The primary strength of the Human species lies in its adaptability. They can learn and achieve functional proficiency in new skills at a rate that is, on average, twice as fast as any other sophic species. While a Human artisan or mage may rarely achieve the pinnacle of mastery seen in a Dwarf or Elf, their ability to rapidly train large numbers of multi-talented individuals is a significant strategic asset. Furthermore, Humans possess a highly advanced and innate capacity for teamwork, allowing for superior coordination in large-group actions.
//>_ Hacker_Override_Initiated... Karckess on 'teamwork'. //>_ Don't mistake it for friendship. Humans stick together because they know they're individually outclassed. A lone Human is food. A dozen Humans is a problem. They're the galaxy's most successful pack animal. As for that 'jack-of-all-trades' schiz? It just means they're good enough to get the job done, and just bad enough to get someone else killed cleaning up their mess.

Civilization and Culture
History
Initially dismissed as little more than clever primates during the Age of Atlases, Humans were officially integrated into the assembly of Sophic Species during the Scale War. They quickly proved to be the conflict's turning point. Their massive population base provided a near-inexhaustible source of soldiers and laborers, serving as the fulcrum that allowed the allied species to topple the Draconic Empire.
//>_ Hacker_Override_Initiated... Karckess on the chapters they tear out of the history books. //>_ Yeah, they were the big damn heroes of the Scale War. Funny how the official histories always seem to skip what came next. They conveniently forget that Humans were a main engine behind the Age of Chains. Sure, some Humans fought to end it, but for every one of them, there was a dozen more Human slavers working right alongside the High Elf elite and the Ebonnic Guard tuskers, getting rich off misery. And who was wearing the collars? Vhenari, Ceangar, Half-breeds, the Shifted... and plenty of other Humans who weren't rich enough to be on the winning side.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Due to their population density and historical role, Humans have developed a notable degree of species-centric pride. The common practice of using "Human" or "humanoid" as a default descriptor for other primate-like species (e.g., Elves, Dwarves) is a source of friction. While Dryzor Inc. officially classifies this practice as a matter of scientific convenience, it is often perceived as a sign of a subtle superiority complex by non-Human species.
//>_ Hacker_Override_Initiated... Karckess on being the 'default'. //>_ "Scientific convenience" my ass. It's arrogance, plain and simple. They got to the top of the heap by breeding like vermin and now they think the whole world was built just for them. Every cut ear and tusker I know is sick of being called a "humanoid." It's just another way for Humans to remind everyone else that they're just a weird-looking guest in a Human's world. Trogs.
