Captain Briggs (Cap - Tain Brigs)

As a child, Captain Benjamin Briggs was a street urchin in Spear End. He always hated authority, and would often rebel against his parents and teachers to go out onto the water in a homemade dinghy. His father was conscripted into the navy when he was sixteen, and seizing the chance he ran away from his mother. The sixteen-year-old Briggs stowed away on a merchant ship named the Mary Celeste, hiding away in the bilges, for two weeks. One night, he snuck out of his hiding place, assassinated the captain, and claimed the ship for his own. He turned what was once a large trading ship into one of the greatest pirate ships in the world.   Many years later, Captain Briggs met Captain Danassi. The two soon became rivals, taking jobs to retrieve magical items and racing to the payoff. The final job the two took, from a mysterious Dark Elf, was to locate a key to a vault hidden within Spear End's Keep. The elf only had one map, however, which he gave to Danassi. During the race to the Key, Briggs attacked Danassi's ship, the Ashen Sorrow, attempting to take the map. He was unable to, and sunk it, leading to the deaths of Danassi and his crew.   During his exploits amassing power and a considerable fleet, he destroyed numerous port cities, towns and settlements. The hometown of Raskulb and Vega was one of the numerous villages his crew burned to the ground.   Twenty six years later, he conscripted the crew of the Dismayer and Droog's Diamonds to search for the map that had sunk on the Ashen Sorrow. Briggs knew that, due to a deal Danassi made with Captain Takara, the ship would be deep in the Abyss. Upon the crews returning from the Abyss, he then sent them to the destination of the map to retrieve the key for him while he prepared an assault on Spear End.   He was killed during the assault on Spear End, to the hands of Tiefa and her crew in the Keep of Spear End.
