Meshiria
The southernmost landmass of Aethoria, and believed by many to be the cradle of the mortal races, it is here that Dagrun, the greatest city that is known to exist in this or any age was founded. The myths of the land being the most preserved form the early ages of the world seem to originate from here, as it is no strange occurrence that an old ruin may be found after a flood or other such event that would change the landscape. The natural magic of the land lends itself to the growth of many endemic species, as well as a strange abundance of passageways into the lands of the Fey.
Geography
For the most part, a heavily forested area of deciduous trees takes up much of the land that has not been claimed for agriculture and cultivation. The more elevated areas hold patches of conifers and other such evergreens, such as the mountainous Aelun range of the south. The great Cerulean Channel divides Meshiria in nearly half, originating from the Aelun mountains and heading northeast out onto the Nostron Sea. The lands to the west of the channel are for the most part forested hills and valleys, while to the east the land is more aking to a mildly forested grassland plain. Lakes and rivers from underground reservoirs are a common accurrence as well, dotting and dividing the landscape allowing for agriculture almost anywhere within Meshiria.
While the Aelun mountains are not the tallest that can be found in Alephon, they are fairly impressive in their own right, as it is possible to stand atop the tallest of them and see the taller structures of Dagrun, and if one is careful, even the shores of the Ekru divide. A few smaller towns have been constructed on the mountains to take advantage of its natural wealth and resources.
Fauna & Flora
The forests of Aethoria in general are known for their abundance, the forests of Meshiria specifically are populated of oaks, willows, ashes, elms, birches, and aspen primarily. As for more exotic and edible plant life, apples, grapes, olives, pears, junipers and pomegranates account for a significant portion of cultivated varieties, others, like fennel, thyme, garlic, sage and parsely can be cultivated, but are easily found in the wild which makes it somewhat uncommon. In a select few locations coffee and date palms can be found growing naturally, and attempts to plant them elsewhere have been mostly to no avail.
As with the rest of Aethoria, Meshiria holds a variety of large and small beasts, though some particularities should be noted in terms of their distribution. While small and medium rodents and birds are ubiquitous, the different climates of the east and west regions, as separated by the Cerulean Channel, yield a unique variety of predatory animals. In the more forested areas of the west lies a more favorable climate for canids like wolves, foxes and kubrows. The eastern plains and grassland in contrast are home to the larger felines such as lynxes and kavats. Most varieties of deer and bison follow a similar pattern, though it is not uncommon to find them on both sides of the channel. In general the western forests are more populated with a variety of large hervibores and omnivores, whereas the more mountainous and plains regions hold a smaller variety but larger numbers in herds.
Birds, not limited by the channel , can be found in all manner of places, but more commonly in the forested areas for nesting.
