Fiends

the Evils from Beyond Aldern

The entites known as fiends are evil creatures from Beyond Aldern. Fiends began as Celestials before time began. These lesser Aggel served Alu and the greater aggels at the creation of Aldern. The celestials that became fiends were part of the Aggoles host that fell from grace and started the Aggelomachy. At the wars end they were cast into Kur with all the aggoles by Alu.

The nature of Kur is that the stronger in power a prisoner has, the more impossible it is to escape, the strength of the entity fueling the barrier of Kur. This has led the lesser aggoles, such as the fiends, to discover they can, with effort, pass through the barrier into Etu Enur and beyond. They are still bound to Kur and eternally feel a compulsion to return. They even grow weaker the longer they stay away. This effect is lessened when in Etu Enur and Beyond Aldern, but is expounded on the material plane. There the fiends can feel their very core withering away until they return to Kur. This means most fiends avoid manifesting in Aldern, and when there, they stay only as long as it takes to complete their task. A forced summoning with Magic is the worst thing anyone can do to a fiend, and that fiend will not forget the violation.

Most fiends retain their ancient roles in the heigerarchy of the aggoles, server the more powerful members of their kind. Some are even in the serves of one or more of the Nod Noch Nine. This is rare, however, as most aggoles do not trust each other since the fall. Each serve their own agendas, be they the highest of them, or the lowest. Even these 'low-level' aggoles, at their weakest, have power beyond mortals and should not be seen as mindless minions to the more powerful aggoles. Several have gone so far as to create their own factions and cults away from the prying eyes of the Nine and other aggoles.

Their ability to travel through the Kur barrier has not gone without a cost, however. Their bodies have been 'burned' and mutated traveling through, corrupted out their divine beauty, replacing it with a demonic appearance. The skin has gone black or red. There outer self matches their inner soul.
