the Light from Beyond Aldern

Celestials are lesser Aggel from Beyond Aldern that came into being before time began. They served Alu and the higher ranking aggel. It was the celestials, more than any other that served Alu on Aldern when mankind was new. The celestials also served on the frontlines of both sides in the Aggelomachy when the heavenly war broke out. Those that fell would become the fiends of legend.

After the war, when the Aggoles were banished to Kur, all loyal aggels were recalled to the heavenly realms Beyond Aldern. The highest powers among the aggels would never return to the material world. They were deemed too powerful and too prone to fall to this power, desiring to become Ilu (gods) themselves as the aggoles had. Alu limited the other aggels, including the celestials, to short travel between realities. They serve their duty and return when their task is complete out of loyalty to Alu. (Note; short is a relative term for immortal beings.)

Celestials appear far more fey-like than the more human looking higher ranking aggels. Their skin is often a pastel blue tint. They will have horns, each unique to the particular celestial, and elongated pointed Elf-like ears. Though not originally there, since the Aggelomachy there is a fiery glow in their wings that grows dimmer the longer they remain in the material plane. A reminder by Alu that their time is limited in remaining on Aldern.
