The Beginning
In the beginning, the lands were dark and sorrowful. The different races lived sad lives where only the strongest survived. This was the way of things for the longest of times.
One day a small child looked around and saw the sadness and despair shared by her family and wished for a better life. One filed with happiness and joy. This wish became a dream, then a belief, and from this belief Ahna was born into existence. Ahna brought with her an insatiable will to live that fiercely spread amongst the people of all races. Life was suddenly filled with meaning, a want to experience and enjoy all that the world had to offer.
While life had improved there was still much danger and death was ever present. The newfound respect for life quickly reflected into an equal respect for death. Death, after all, came for everyone eventually. As rituals and superstitions around death became more common, a second God became known to the people. Xumera offered her assistance as a guide and a caretaker for the dead. She would lead each soul to the afterlife and assisted them back to the world of the living if ever there was need.
Under the two goddess' watch small groups of people started to band together and form small tribes. Those within the tribes would watch over each other creating a protection and sense of safety that had never been felt before. From this protection Phenir was born. Through his guidance these roaming tribes always found safety.
Eventually the tribes became weary of wandering and created small settlements. These homes were much more permanent than the tents they had lived in. With permanent housing came the need for permanent food sources and so the people learned to cultivate the land. Attempt after attempt failed, but the people persisted, and from this persistence and love of the earth Nura appeared. With her guidance plants grew in abundance and famine was no longer a worry.
As life became easier time was in less demand. The more intellectual used this abundance of time to talk and to write. Records were kept for the first time and learning became a priority. These scholars spent hours learning as much as they could about as many things as possible, and it was from this inquisitiveness that Monas sprung into existence. As thanks for his birth Monas taught the secrets of fire, both how to create and how to utilise. Once done he hinted that there was much to learn from the fire and set the people on a new path of learning. As such the first chefs and smiths soon appeared.
It was after the introduction of fire that the gods recognised just how dark of a world their new people lived in. Taking inspiration from Monas and his fire, the gods combined their strength and willed two new gods into existence. Ygnia was first, a being of fire who's job was to light the day for the living. Then came Deone , his twin sister. A pale, softer reflection of the same fire who was tasked with lighting the night for the dead. From that point on there was always one of the two to light the world for whoever needed it.
Some time passed where little else changed, until one day some children were playing by a pond. They lamented at the fact there was no larger bodies of water to play in and explore, as their world was a flat one, nothing but plains and shallow ponds. From these cries of want birthed Kroashar , who with a mighty roar cracked the ground with his fist and caused water to shoot to the sky. This water quickly flooded the lower Plains and did not stop for several days. Once finished it had created the encircling sea that encompasses all. Kroashar took the children who road on his back, as he swam through the ocean. Once returned he shared the knowledge of sailing with the people so that they may explore and enjoy all his ocean has to offer.
Over time many people travelled from settlement to settlement, bringing goods and wares to both trade and sell. This brought prosperity to the settlements but danger to these roaming merchants. To protect them Bomerin was born. He watched over these travellers, bringing them safe travels and prosperity in trade. To those that wished harm on merchants under his protection, there was much misfortune to be found.
With more and more people travelling between settlements, it was inevitable that not all were of good intentions. Some merchants would lie about the worth of their goods, others would steal from rivals or the homes in the places they would visit. To these trouble makers another God was created. One who's form shifted and who's words could not be trusted. The only things known for certain was that they were named Vanien and they never worked in anyone's best interests.
While all the other Gods contributed greatly to the world it was Vaniens arrival that was the catalyst in creating the Aelamos known today. The constant trickery and deciept caused settlements to form an unfortunate distrust for each other. Distrust grew into hatred which eventually caused conflict battles were fought and wars raged. Through these conflicts Rhyarus was born and his rage was never ending. His favour found the warriors that pushed their limits and risked everything for the win and in his name many heros wrote their stories.
As the years went by and the conflicts failed to cease, the dwarven peoples grew frustrated that they were constantly caught in the middle. They yearned for homes beneath soil and stone. A place they could hide away from the fighting and practice their crafts in peace. It was Dovral who answered their pleas appearing to the dwarves as if craft from the finest stones. He raised the ground from shore to shore then shore again, separating the settlements into three areas. This raised earth became known as The Iron-Core Range and the dwarves happily made it their homes.
This seperation helped calm the people across the continent and eventually the wars ended. Some broke out from time to time but it was no longer an unending battle. Each of the three spaces created by the devisive mountain range eventually became their own countries. There was the marshy swamplands of Otros to the west, the rolling hills and verdant forests of Eshana to the east, and the dry plains and deserts of Akesh to the north. So this is how we come to find Aelamos as it is today, still watched over by its many gods and its people living the best lives that they can.
