Rhyarus

Domain of War

Rhyarus is the God of War, The Grand Strategist, The Ceasless Hunter and The Spirit of the Warrior. He is patron to any and all that find themselves caught in battle and offers his blessings to the brave, the fearless, the hopeful, and the selfless. He is indirectly known as the God of hero's as often those that received his boons go on to be remembered for the subsequent feats they accomplished.   Worship of Rhyarus is not a common everyday practice. Typically he is prayed to during times of war and in the lead up to battles. Certain people who make a living through fighting would make a daily habit of prayer and offerings however. Major cities would have shrines in their barracks and war rooms so proper respects can be paid in short notice. While not a requirement for worship, often warriors will spill their own blood as they mumble prayers over a blood rusted alter. Civilizarions that are more militaristic in focus or military outposts would make Rhyarus their primary Diety and would raise large churches in his honour. These sorts of places are known to show their devotion through combat. In extreme cases these are done to the death with the victor being believed to have received his blessing.   In wars Rhyarus is rare to pick sides and will give his blessings to both sides if properly prayed to. He is more likely to bless individuals who make some form of heroic act on the battlefield. Someone sacrificing themselves for their allies safety, a hopeless and defiant last stand or a desperate push to break through the enemy defence are all worthy of notice. A particular individual in these cases might find themselves moving with inhuman strength or speed, or enduring unreasonable amounts of pain and injury. It is these very moments that bards sing tales of in taverns across the realms.   There is a level of morality and respect that Rhyarus expects at all times in battle. He believes people should only ever punch up, never down. While he believes those that are weak and defenceless are owed no power, the should not be unnecessary victims of conflict. As such when innocent civilians are indiscriminately killed the offending part will find themselves incurring Rhyarus' wrath. This usually manifests in their next battle having disastrous results.
