Circle of Malius - Mythos Sect
History
The Mythos Sect of the Circle of Malius was founded in the wake of a major attack on Kjara, the biggest center of the Circle of Malius faith on the continent of Ash. High Priestess Bethania Tharmr, along with her son Barnabas, claims to have been personally saved by Mythos Himself during the attack, leading the sect to believe that the arrival of Mythos signifies that they are to aid their fellow man, no matter whether they are faithful or not. Not everyone in the greater Circle of Malius believe this to be the case, however this does not stop the Mythos Sect from growing in number within the new nation of Waloed.
Mythology & Lore
Ultima created humanity in Their image, and dictated their way of life for centuries before falling silent. The last recorded message from the Almighty is that They shall take on a Vessel, known as Mythos, in order to reshape the world into paradise, and that only the faithful shall have permission to join Them within this paradise.
When Mythos arrived in Kjara in the Year of the Realm 845, with no sign of the Almighty's presence, the Mythos Sect grew with His singular commandment as their core belief: "You must stop this." While the commandment is vague, leaving much room for interpretation, many leaders have taken this to mean ending the oppression of their fellow man, no matter any capacity for magic or social station.
Divine Origins
As a branch of the Circle of Malius faith, many of the teachings and rituals of the Mythos Sect originate from the Children of Dzemekys, whose civilization flourished on the Twins until 1,500 years ago. However, since the founding of their Sect of the faith, there have been pushes towards reinterpretation of the doctrine by the followers of the Sect, even within the priesthood itself.
