Circle of Malius
Mythology & Lore
Ultima created humanity in Their image, and dictated their way of life for centuries before falling silent. The last recorded message from the Almighty is that They shall take on a Vessel, known as Mythos, in order to reshape the world into paradise, and that only the faithful shall have permission to join Them within this paradise.
Divine Origins
The teachings and rituals of the Circle of Malius date back to the Children of Dzemekys, whose civilization and religion once flourished on the Twins until 1,500 years ago, when the Mothercrystal used to commune with the Almighty was mysteriously destroyed. After the fall of this civilization, survivors fled to the Outer Continent, where the faith carried on over the centuries.
Tenets of Faith
The will of humanity is flawed. Only by submitting oneself to the will of the Almighty might ones sins be cleansed.
Worship
Public worship is held within various churches, with prayer and sermon provided by the local Priests. Personal worship follows less strict rules; as long as a representation of the Almighty is present, and the worshiper presents themselves with purity and submission to the Almighty's will, it is considered legitimate by the priesthood.
Occasionally, Priests will hold communion or sermons outside the church, typically when other events incite unrest among the faithful.
Sects
The Mythos Sect is a recent offshoot of the Circle, whose influence on the continent of Ash is swiftly overtaking the main religion's. They focus more upon the Vessel of the Almighty than the Almighty Themself, and claim that the founders and leader were saved by Mythos before being given a commandment by Him. Those who follow the faith of the main Circle of Malius view followers of this sect as near-heretics, and religious leaders would have excommunicated the entire Sect if not for the fact that they still do worship the Almighty and follow Their commandments.
