Clive Rosfield

As the center for Mythos's resurrection, Clive holds sway over the same domains that Mythos once did: protection, and those who seek to provide it to others.

His two goals are to end Ultima's attempts to kill Valisthea, thereby breaking the cycles he and the Eikons were trapped in, and to ensure the continued survival of the Star.

Clive is a healthy baby boy, despite the issues leading up to his birth, however that comes with all of the lack of bodily control that entails. While he may start with limited motor controls, he swiftly forces himself to master the art of sitting upright and holding things as quickly as he can manage without harming himself.

Something not spoken of is how Clive was born with both sets of downstairs plumbing. He is aware of this fact, and due to Anabella's influence is not particularly fond of this fact, despite the historical precedent in his family for such an event to occur.

Wisps of black hair rest atop the crown of his head, above chubby cheeks and bright blue eyes. His lips almost always seem to be resting in a pout, though when he smiles or laughs, his entire being lights up (almost killing anyone who sees it of cuteness overload).

As far as those caring for him seem to know, he is developing at a slightly faster rate than normal.

Once back in contact with the Eikons, Clive finds himself able to summon shades of each of them comprised of pure aether. He is the only one that can communicate with them, but they can directly interact with the world whenever in these forms, though once their Dominant is awakened, it is harder for the Eikon to make an appearance without alerting said Dominant. This does also apply to any Egi the Eikon has, as evidenced by Sleipnir often appearing in place of Odin.

Clive has lived a hard life: put down by his own mother for not being what she wanted, branded and abused for thirteen years after the death of his beloved younger brother, only to learn that he was really the one responsible for his brother's death. After dedicating his life to forging a world where everyone can choose how they live, destroying the Mothercrystals draining the land of aether, and killing the mad God behind it all, he thought everything would end up going well for once... only to end up in a subdimension with all of the Eikons, and Ultima telling him that this would all happen again. Learning that he was trapped in a cycle alongside the Eikons, one that they never remembered until they were back inside the subdimension, leaves a poor taste in his mouth... so when Ramuh recommends an impossible feat to break the cycle, he quickly agrees to it, not even contemplating what the repercussions would be since otherwise it would all be for nothing anyways.

Now if only he weren't stuck in the body of an infant, at the very beginning of his life, but with the awareness, knowledge, and mental capacity of his 33 year old self...

This is harder for him to handle, due to his specific circumstances. Anabella beat into his head that he was a freak because of his dual physical parts, but since it really doesn't affect anything (outside of the painful monthlies that are ahead of him again), he's finding it rather difficult to care about her opinion on the matter. As far as he's concerned, he is a male, though sometimes he does feel like he is: somewhere in between the two.

Clive knows that he prefers the company of men to women, even if he can appreciate a feminine form. However, because of his current body and lack of hormones, he finds the impulses he is accustomed to feeling are absent.

Clive underwent a very thorough noble's education until the age of 15, and simultaneously trained as a swordsman under Lord Commander Rodney Murdoch of Rosaria's Shields. After the age of 15, he eventually learned several assassination techniques and methods while in the Imperial Bastards.

His greatest achievement, in his mind, is still when he won the right to become the First Shield of Rosaria, and thus the ability to protect his little brother, at the tender age of 15 against fully blooded Knights several years his senior. No matter how his official tenure as First Shield ended, Clive still takes pride in the victory this event represented to him.

The destruction of every Mothercrystal on the Twins also remains an achievement to Clive, despite learning the truth of the cycles he and the Eikons are trapped within. No one, not even Clive before the first was destroyed, believed it possible, or that doing so would actually prove beneficial to Valisthea as a whole.

Clive considers the events at Phoenix Gate, his first Prime as Ifrit and seemingly killing Phoenix, to be the biggest failure of his life, and he was beyond thrilled to learn that Joshua not only survived the incident, but forgave him for his actions that night.

Losing Cid to Ultima was a close second in terms of failures of Clive's life. Between seeing the older man as a mentor, and his own hidden crush on the man, Clive would have crumbled if not for the responsibilities he was given by Cid, and the attack on the Hideaway that shortly followed the man's death. Instead, he took that failure and used it to fuel his determination to see Cid's mission to a close: to bring about a world where everyone, no matter your lot in life, can choose how they live, free of the Mothercrystals that were draining the land dry.

He remembers being scorned by his mother for years, and every abuse he suffered while a Branded soldier. As such, he has depression, C-PTSD, paranoia, and trust issues as large as Rosaria itself. This new lease on life is not helping any of these issues, as he expects the treatment he received last time, and knows that much of how he is being treated in the present is a lie, or something he will lose in short order.

While Clive would hardly call himself especially intelligent or worldly, now that he is back in his infantile body, he is going to be mistaken as a genius, and he will have to play into this misconception to help hide the truth of his situation for as long as possible.

Clive's morals are as steadfast as his will, despite his history as an assassin, and especially after having taken up Cid's name and mission

Clive still remembers the oath he swore with Cid to forge a world where people can choose how they live, and this has driven him through literal god-slaying once before. With that oath as his guiding light, he can withstand anything that is coming for him.

Clive is an excellent swordsman and warrior, capable of leading others with relative ease. However, he is a terrible liar, and obviously uncomfortable when attempting to maintain any form of cover or ruse.

His kindness and compassion are near-endless, not even wishing harm on those who have wronged him in any way.

As a former Branded soldier, Clive can fully appreciate the feeling of being clean, and prefers to maintain a relatively high level of hygiene for the time period whenever available.

He adores his father, and views both Rodney and Hanna Murdoch as parents, even going so far as to replace his birth mother with Hanna, at least mentally and emotionally. Clive is also endlessly devoted to Joshua and Jill, loving his two siblings with every fiber of his being and being willing to let the two get away with things he'd instantly reprimand others for.

In contrast, he utterly despises Anabella and her treatment of him, knowing that all she ever wanted was a Dominant and hating how she treats anyone with the Brand as little better than dirt.

Clive recognizes Ultima as the creator of humanity, but given everything that the mad God has put him through, he refuses to even consider Them as his center of worship. Even with the revelations regarding Mythos, Clive insists on praying to the Founder, as is Rosarian tradition.

Clive, as an adult, is surprisingly charismatic, for all that his eloquence has quite a bit to be desired and he'd much rather let other people draw the attention instead. As a result of his history in the Sanbrequois military as a Branded Soldier, he has zero ego, and his confidence had been shot even before he was Branded and sold off.

Now that he is a literal infant again, he still has much of this, though his charisma and charm appears to have tripled somehow. (It's because he's an adorable little menace that everyone loves and wants to spoil rotten.)

Clive will eventually acquire a white Chocobo he names Ambrosia, and a Frost Wolf named Torgal, and eagerly awaits the days in which he receives them again.

In terms of hobbies, aside from training in swordsmanship, he has a great appreciation for stage plays, especially The Saint and the Secretary.

As the son of the Archduke of Rosaria, and now that he has been brought back to the literal start of his life, he is of the highest class in the nation, though he has no direct access to the wealth and standing that comes with his position.
