Sessions 02/27/22 and 03/06/22

Morning comes and we leave the bar, going for a shopping spree. Ven’Lynn takes this time to thoroughly annoy and creep out the barkeep, also interrogate him. Looking for her next fuck, she learns that Debza was arrested sometime last night. She asks about the slavers in the desert, not much information there. All we learn is that Drakaar is Drow word changed, means something similar to “wall or barrier”. I believe it means something about the group themselves being a barrier. They are lurking in the desert a lot of the time and act as kind of a wall. If you go through the desert, you go through them and you follow their rules. I doubt that little interaction we had will be the last.
 
After the small amount of information, Ven’Lynn rejoins the group to go shopping. We enter a magic shop, Ethan forgot to give Eli coins so he has no money (lol). Ven’Lynn finds an amulet worth 250 Gold Pieces, it is an Amulet of protection. Too much money and Ven puts it back. Uri decides on a staff with snake head (didn’t get name) and attunes it, being a snazzy warlock. Bo takes interest in a Magic Missile Wand and buys it, as well as two healing potions for himself. Ven helps both them out plus buys a health potion and drops about 180 coins at the magic shop. The shop for magic,, that she does not use. That the other two use quite a bit… and she does not. Idiots, I tell you.
 
As we are finishing up, a sort of Vagrant walks into the shop, looking rather sickly. He leans over the counter and asks the shopkeep if he had some kind of item (we couldn’t hear what he said.) The shopkeep says no and asked him to leave. Suddenly, the man lunges out and attacks him with a shard of obsidian. It looks to be a kind of knife, but as he moves it, it is blurry with red and blue energy. He slashed the man and he immediately falls down and has a seizure, foaming at the mouth. He then turns his attention to the group, starting with Bo. Lunges towards him and Bo gets to try out his new toy. Then, the man attacks Ven’Lynn and slashes her across the chest. She has a successful dexterity save and does not have a seizure. The man makes a fist and twists it, and suddenly we are all thrown to the ceiling. He has the ability to shift gravity. Eli makes great move by misty stepping closer and grappling with the man, getting the obsidian shard out of his hand. Once the shard is out, he falls unconscious. Ven’Lynn goes over to the shard and tries to intercept it / take the evidence. She reaches for the hand and suddenly loses control of her body, floating down to the floor perfectly. She makes the same hand gesture and the group is thrown back to the group. In a series of movements, she attacks Bo and beats the ever loving CRAP out of him. She then makes a move to slash Conny, but in a brilliant move, Eli casts a spell and it is transferred to the vagrant. Ven’Lynn succeeds on her next turn of a wisdom throw and drops the knife, regaining her body. The exchange is now over, everyone sits to collect their thoughts for a moment. Bo casts detect magic on the knife and sees some very scary images.
 
Guards come in after hearing a commotion and ask what happen. We briefly explain and they take the Vagrant out of the shop. We hid the knife and said we don’t know where it went, but made sure to not handle it with bare hands. After a minute or two, we gather ourselves and head to the guard station to talk a bit about what happened and also speak with Debza. We learn she had been arrested but doesn’t know why, so we speak with her for a bit. I love my wife <3
After speaking with her about the exchange, we see that the knife is cursed. It is most likely used by a cult of some kind and has been used to sacrifice people. Fun. We leave and promise for help Debzania out of her pickle.

Next session, we wake up and go downstairs of the Tavern. Head out back to the shop and speak with the shopkeep and check on how he is doing. He is a bit better, a bit shaken up. We talk to him about the knife and he comes to the same conclusion that this thing is fucking weird and he wants nothing to do with it. It is from another plain, not our own. We make a deal with him and hug the Amulet for 100 gold after saving his life. Ven is flat fucking broke now, god damnit. We now have the amulet to protect us from being followed. Yay. We next head to the library and get some information on tons of things. Bo is reading up a storm and learns about the history of shadowgate and other things (Lowkey forgot, David if you see this what did you read-). Euri finds out that Shadowgate does not have a great relationship with the feywild for some reason. The entire book section for the feywild has been removed, for some reason. She can also not find and books about the arch fey. She reads about changelings and finds a book about one from (forgot name, lower left of map. Island) Ven’Lynn looks for books about preservation magic and the history of Heritage. She doesn’t find much about the school itself, but sees something interesting in the back of one of the books. There is a forest drawn in the book, but all of Khalvor is more like a desert. There is also drawings of a white flame that is said to have ravaged the world long before this. It is written in a mix of old common and old primordial, so Ven only half understands what it says lol. Ven’Lynn also buys flowers from a shop and gives them all to Euri and Bo. Asks Euridiphi to help her preserve the flower to send in a letter home. They bond and make up :))) Eli buys two bouquets. One for his mom and one for Euri.
 
They leave and go to sleep, wake up next day and go downstairs. We see a cart roll through town with black, Volyrus flags on it. We learn that this is the grand inquisitor. He only is sent by the king when something bad happens. We are taken by a guard for the guard post where he explain what happens. He takes us in and we learn that… Debzania is dead. MY FUCKING HEART BRO WAAAAAAH
She was said to have gone crazy. She gutted herself and wrote on the walls with her own blood. We see, on the wall, the symbol of the square, circle, triangle, but with an eye in the middle this time. It is written in her blood. On the ceiling, words are written in Elvish “The Unwavering Eye Sees All,” what the fuck. Her head is smashed in front bludgeoning, most likely she banged her head into the wall repeatedly.
 
The gang is in shambles. Everyone is heartbroken. Bo goes into an orcish rage and is inconsolable. Euridiphi and Eli are both deeply troubled. Ven’Lynn searches over the body and sees that one of her medalians on her cloak is missing, similar to how Felen’s silver coin was taken. She takes off one of the bangles on her wrist and slides it on to Debza’s. She kisses the back of her hand and then walks out, taking a minute to process things. Bo is filled with anger and won’t listen to anyone, snaps out of it and starts to cast detect magic in the room.
Just then, the grand inquisitor shows up. He forces his way into the room and ushers us out. Bo is casting his spell and about to finish, but the inquisitor stops him. He and Bo have a heated interaction and Bo ends up taking A LOT of damage from this man. He is at 1hp when the group runs back in to help. It is at this time that we get into an argument with this man. We learn that he is actually Eli’s uncle. He is very scary and can use puppet magic. He forces everyone to their knees in an ego trip and makes them all say “I understand”, then he leaves. He is very fucking scary.
 
We all leave and Bo breaks down. He is terrified of the blood on his hands, even if he didn’t hurt Debza. He is worried he did that and is scared that he lost control, having a panic attack. He is scared sick. Euridiphi comes in clutch and charms him, slowly calming him down from his panic attack. Poor baby. He is glued to Ven’Lynn‘s side, hugging her and following after her.
 
Ven’Lynn begins getting angrily drunk and storms off for the bar while Eli and Euridiphi investigate the corpses in the morgue. They learn of all the corpses and the tattoos connecting them all. The very first body is covered head to toe in those similar tattoos. They leave and we start to head to Eli’s mother’s house. Bo and Ven’Lynn get into an argument. Bo insists that they should leave, because he fears that this issue is much bigger than them. He wants to see his mom and doesn’t like the threat of the symbols and the murder. Ven’Lynn presses that now, that is an even bigger reason for them to continue. They do not resolve the fight, Ven joining Eli and Euri to his mothers house.
 
She is very excited to see Eli but also worried for him, seeing as they are all covered in blood and look hurt. Eli realized that Bo wasn’t there and goes back to get him after a very long back and forth. He brings Bo back and we talk to Eli’s mom to learn more about the murder and the inquisitor. We learn that the inquisitor is evil (duh) and was sent away at a young age. He didn’t return the same.
 
HE HAS A SIMILAR MARK ON HIS CHEST TO THE CREEPY MONK. HE IS CLOSE TO / IF NOT, FROM HERITAGE. HOLY FUCK.
