357–343 BTFOM — Birth and Childhood in Respite
Damian Flow was born in Respite, a small oasis hamlet nestled within endless dunes — the only water and shelter for miles. His parents, Aria Nightingale and Archer Longstride, owned and maintained the oasis, offering food, water, and safety to any traveller who needed it.
His mother, Aria, a drifting satyr whose form often flickered between dream and waking, filled his nights with stories of dreams and trapped souls. His father, Archer, a Kitsune Archfey from another realm, spoke openly of gods, love, and the power of freedom. Their tales shaped Damian’s early morality — kindness without judgment, and rebellion without cruelty.
As others settled near the oasis, Damian became their unofficial leader, learning trade, alchemy, and hospitality while still a boy. He grew used to listening before speaking and laughing before lying — a balance his father praised as “the trickster’s heart, but honest hands.”
When Damian turned fourteen, his parents vanished as promised, leaving behind only drifting fireflies and a note asking him to make a name for himself. Their essence, they said, would live on through him.
For years after, Respite followed the young Kitsune’s lead, loyal to the son of their benefactors — until one day, he too left the oasis, chasing the edge of the horizon where his parents’ light had disappeared.
