Shade Elves
Shade Elves also called "Shadow Elves" & "Umbral-Kai" are one of the two founding races of elves born from the genetic dilution of the Iralden race inheriting the spirituality of autumn & winter. These elves are known to dwell exclusively in Sorrow Heart although some find their ways out of the realm of despair. Shade Elves are a cold & pale race that are known for their apathy towards others and their own situation. They are one with the darkness and despair of their homeland being able to become dark mist and resist negative energy. Much like their light elven cousins the Shade Elves fought in the Primal War & where the progenitors of the snow elves & dark elves who abandoned Primal Heart although once the Nychtan Court lost the war the shade elves were banished to Sorrow Heart.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Shade Elves have a pale white complexion, cold bodies that are imbued with negativity. This negative magic that is woven into their bodies makes them resistant to poison and other negative essences allowing them to consume the flora and fauna of Sorrow Heart without complications.
Biological Traits
Shade Elves have a frigid body due to their natural attunement to the darkness and despair. They can use the magic in their bodies to innately cast spells that use darkness like clouds of black mist, and turn into clouds of black mist.

Shade Elves live in many locations of Sorrow Heart typically dark forests and mountains are where they build their cities.

Shade Elves don't require a lot of nutrients needing only half a pound of food for a month.

Social Structure
The Shade Elves have their settlements based on deeds and prestige being meritocratic. Shade Elves adore the use of shadow magic specifically many of them becoming necromancers, enchanters, & illusionists. Their cities are split into three separate districts one where the elves are allied with Mystalia, one where the unaligned live, & and the other district being where the undead lived.

- A group of shade elves who are famous for giving their people the amount of power they had over Sorrow Heart and fought in the Black War against the Soulleal and Null-Father.

Much like avalonians the shade elves find skill and prowess to be beautiful but in the dark arts. Shade Elves are more beautiful the more attuned they are to the dark.

Shade Elves are a highly advanced race using magical swords and bows as well as magical dark runes. These elves were highly proficient in shadow magic using necromancy as a means of energy, illusions as extra force and construction, & enchantment for the purposes of law.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
Shade Elves seeing the futility of the Primal War they became apathetic in their sorrowful realm only finding purpose and solace in their skill and accomplishments. They use the dark as it's what keeps them alive, makes up their very being, & is the source of their magic.
History
The Shade Elves originated from the Nirdale leaving with their light elven cousins but the bulk of the shade elf population ended up in Sorrow Heart becoming enthralled by the realms nature after losing the Primal War. They formed their own cities trying to live in their dark & dreery homes becoming one of the strongest races in Sorrow Heart rivaling the Elemites. Eventually the Shade Elves were discovered by the avalonian nephilim and rather than remain indifferent or enter conflict the "Shade Pact" was made giving shadow magic to the avalonians and granting another home to the shadow elves. Shadow Elves have been faithful allies of the avalonian shade mages even aiding in the Black War.
Historical Figures
Umbrir Galam, The Shade Specter
- Umbrir was one of the first shade elves who wasn't afflicted with apathy and sought to build homes for his people. He founded the Shade Alliance & Shade Vanguard carving out a home through the slaughter of Soulless that prowled the land. Umbrir perished defending his people but served as an inspiration to the rest to purge themselves of apathy and work towards a better future.
Merlin Mystalia, The Light Giver
- The former leader of the avalonian nephilim through his traversing of other realms he found the shade elves and an opportunity for both races to thrive. Merlin & the Shade Alliance forged a pact between themselves to give shadow magic to the nephilim in exchange for being able to come to Avalon.
Thanatos, The Pale Scythe
- A high ranking member of the Scarlet Church who ascended to archon status through deeds in his people's war. Thanatos became allied to many shadow elves as he asked for their magic in exchange for protection and an opportunity to serve the god of truth.
Common Myths and Legends
- Some believe that the shade elves are evil and malevolent due to their own attunement to the dark extreme.
- Shade Elves believe that through the darkness and their own will was the only way to find purpose and satisfaction in their very souls.
- Other elves believe that the souls of Shade Elves would poison their afterlife with their negativity.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Avalonian Nephilim
- The first allies made by the shade elves as both entered a pact to benefit both parties. Shade Elves & Avalonians remain friendly to each other due to their pact.
Soulless
- The immortal demons who have been dwelling in Sorrow Heart before them after the "Sorrow War" the Shade Elves established themselves as one of the main races of Sorrow Heart pushing back the soulless and their demon class brethren.
