Sabertooth Spider

Sabertooth spiders are large arachnids found in the jungles of Tropacia. They are a dangerous species, their venom is on a level 3 on the Arrow Poison Scale.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Adults have a diameter of 1 metre. The spiders are a dark green in colour. They have a very large abdomen, full of silk they use to create their homes, large burrows underground. Their head has 8 eyes and 2 extremely large fangs, of which it gets its name. These fangs point straight down and when they attack they can rotate and point forwards.

Ecology and Habitats

Sabertooth spiders are at home in the rainforest. They use the darkness of the undergrowth and the colour of their fur to blend in with the dense grasses, as they stalk their prey. They also hide their dens very well, building them close to bushes where it cannot be found.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Sabertooth spiders are carnivores. They hide in their dens waiting for vibrations that they sense. They crawl out quietly, going unnoticed by the prey, and they lunge and stab them with its long fangs. They cover the creature in their silk and digest them whole.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

When in their burrows, sabertooth spiders will sense vibrations from the surface. They then crawl out of the burrow and attacks whatever they find. They have incredible hearing but very poor eyesight.
