Oriole

Orioles are people who live in Orrios, west of the Frost Lands.

Description

Orioles have purple skin, with darker purple and pink feathers. They have large wings emerging from behind their arms with purple. An Oriole's legs are similar to birds, with 3 talons and scales toward the bottom of the leg.

Culture

Art & Architecture

Orioles centre a lot of their art and architecture around mythology. The small islands they live on house a great deal of mythology, anywhere from legendary stories to mythical beings, there is no shortage of written texts, art pieces and buildings inspired by and depict folklore and legend.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Perfect and pristine feathers are idolized within orioles. Most orioles prefer partners that have cleaner feathers, as they greatly value cleanliness. This fashion trend of the clean feathers has arisen preening stations, small buildings dotted around the islands for people to go. They mimic salons of Earth.

Gender Ideals

Orioles have no defining beliefs about genders. They believe that any gender is equal, they deserve equal rights, and that no roles are set for any gender.

Courtship Ideals

Orioles have an interesting courtship. When orioles become an adult and reach sexual maturity, which is about 20 years old, they will start to grow a mane full of purple feathers. Beneath the purple feathers are a row of longer, yellow feathers. When the male wants to court with a female, the male ruffs up the feathers in order to look more appealing. The male with the brightest yellow feathers, or the longest feathers, or the prettiest feathers will attract a female.

Relationship Ideals

Orioles believe in one single romantic partner, but multiple sexual partners. Usually, a romantic partner is found when you are much younger, sometimes at around the mid teen years, 15-17. Engaging in sexual acts with the romantic partner is not uncommon, but it is more common to engage in sexual acts with other people, usually multiple. The amorous activities are not talked about between romantic partners but are acknowledged. It is considered unloyal and just wrong to have multiple romantic partners.
